I made this map summer 2009 after scouring both forks all winter for hills. Let me know what you guys think & if anyone needs any help finding these spots.

NORTH FORK

SOUND SHORE ROAD & PIER AVE:
JAMESPORT / NORTHVILLE, NY
ELEVATION : 140 - sea level
DIFFICULTY : BEGINNER/ADVANCED
Best place to start would be Iron Pier Beach or the farm stand at the corner of Pennys Road & Sound Ave. Pennys is a nice warm up or cool down road and you wont hit any elevation really til it turns into Sound Shore Road. Offers some very fun drops from the oil tankers and some nice views. ride down to Iron Pier beach, rinse, repeat. From Iron Pier, Pier Ave has a huge drop and for the less adventurous, try Smugglers Path which is a development that feeds onto Pier Ave about half way down.
Dune Drive (just east of Iron Pier) is a retirement condo community. They get pissed when you skate back there but it alot of fun as well. Awesome pavement quality and virtually no traffic. Fast hills back there with some fun turns. Best way to get in is walk the beach from Iron Pier. This is trespassing, so be sure to jump the fence into the private pool after your session!! Beautiful views on the Sound too.

CAPTAIN KIDD:
MATTITUCK, NY
ELEVATION : 95 - sea level
DIFFICULTY : BEGINNER / ADVANCED
Take Cox Neck Road off of 48, then make a left onto Breakwater Rd. Captain Kidd will be on your left. I haven't skated there much, but it is a residential neighborhood so you can pretty much park anywhere, or take breakwater rd to the end and park at the beach. Limited traffic and some very fun hills. Excellent pavement quality. Everything North of Captain Kidd is very steep so watch out!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HAYWATERS / NASSAU POINT
PECONIC, NY
ELEVEATION : 65 - sea level
DIFFICULTY : ADVANCED
Take the main road Rout 25 out to Skunk Lane and follow that out to Nassau Point & park at the beach. Nassau Point has a lot of fast, rolling drops along Nassau Point Road. Bridge Lane to Bayberry road then to Haywaters is one of the hidden crown jewels of north fork skating. Lots of blind spots but a few nice beaches to check out while you're out there as well. Nassau Point should be planned as a full or half day trip since it has so much to ride.

SOUNDVIEW AVE:
PECONIC, NY
ELEVATION : 65 - sea level
DIFFICULTY : BEGINNER
Take 48 out through wine country & make a left onto Mill Lane & then a right onto Soundview Ave. There are a few nature preserves along the road that you can park at, best one is about a half mile down on your left. These hills are alittle more spread out but more importantly the pavement is in great condition. You can skate Soundview down to the beach, or keep going to Horton Lighthouse, but the pavement quality degrades along the way. Very nice starter hills and a beautiful ride though mostly woods.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LAKE DRIVE / OAK AVE
SOUTHOLD, NY
ELEVATION : 30 - sea level
DIFFICULTY : BEGINNER
Lake Drive is a private community back on the bay in Southold. Take main road 25 and make a right onto Main Bayview Road, then a left onto midland Parkway Drive. Park in theis residential neighborhood and skate north to lake Ave. Lots of fun hills and one-way connecting streets. Focus of this is more on the impeccable pavement quality rather than hills. Alot of fun 1-2 hour sessions back here.

SOUTH FORK
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SOUTHAMPTON COLLEGE
SOUTHAMPTON, NY
ELEVATION : 90-20
DIFFICULTY : BEGINNER - ADVANCED
Take Sunrise Highway 27 to Southampton. Make a right at the first light & park at the gym on your left. Campus in dead in the summertime with only commuters taking classes for now. Southampton is built on a hill, so you're going to want to make it to the top first. Lots of new pavement since SUNY Stonybrook bought it from LIU. Fun drops and some interesting lines, sweet place to explore and lots of my flesh has been donated to the pavement here. Check out the tennis courts if you wanna slide tech.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GREATHILL ROAD
SOUTHAMPTON, NY
ELEVATION : 205-50
DIFFICULTY : ADVANCED
Nice rolling road back in the middle of nowhere. Very nice pavement quality and marks the unofficial beginning of the South Forks terminal moraine. Noyac Road (which leads to middle Line Highway) is also a nice skate. lots of rolling hills, limited traffic, beautiful nature preserves and bay along the way. Welcome to the hamptons!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MIDDLE LINE HIGHWAY
BRIDGEHAMPTON, NY
ELEVATION : 240 - 70
DIFFICULTY : EXPERT
One of the craziest roads that you can skate on the island. Perfect pavement cutting straight across the Southern terminal moraine. Lots of steep drops and you might actually forget that you're on the Island at some points. Slide gloves for added pleasure.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LOPERS / BRICK KILN
BRIDGEHAMPTON, NY
ELEVATION : 155 - sea level
DIFFICULTY : ADVANCED
Last set of hills leading off of the southern terminal moraine. Brick Kiln offers up and very nice cruise through residential Hamptons. Keep riding it north and you'll find yourself in downtown Sagg. Pretty straightforward ride with a few blind spots.
