fastest times down the hill, longest slide, giant slalom times (if there's room om the road), tight slalom times, best style, most improved, worst injury of the day ().
The only place we could setup a slalom course is St. Andrew's church, back in westwood. Remember- People suck. If we block the road in anyway or cause any sort of nusence, I KNOWWWW that there is a 99% chance that the cops will be called.

hey guys... im sure this has been discussed in alot of topics before, but i wanted to get a Jersey opinion. with the hills we have in our state, what would be the ideal DH setup? i was thinking kebbek flushcut, or landy evo... randall dh trucks... and some flyweheels. any opinions, agreements, disagreements?
Although I have never ridden any of these, and hav only seen pictures of the evo, and have seen the flushcut in person, I do have extensive knowledge of dh boards, and I used to have a landy dh.
I would go with the flushcut- it seems a little bit bulky but it is high enouch that you can be running a gumball, the optimal wheel for speed. Roads here are to rough for a cored wheel like a fly wheel( used to have those also) and dh's: you can't go wrong with those. Just replace the stock bushing with your medium to hard bushing of choice. Me, I like the orange superballs.
I hoped that helped.
doh, you didn't try out my flushcut on sunday? it's a sweet ride.
my flush is set up with r2 180s, i modded the deck and baseplates to fit the 180s, though i believe that kebbek is making them cut for r2's these days. i have gumballs on as well, they're not the fastest, but i do like the plush ride.
we're not going to be albe to get out this sunday, but we'll be out again soon enough :)

If you guys are doing prizes, here's a hint: oven mitts and other gems are all a buck at a dollar store. And if you want to find out where I got the whole oven mitt thing from, along with the thermos, I suggest renting The Jerk with Steve Martin and watching it.
I'll be bringing my cooler with a gallon of gatorade again. That is, if I don't die skating with Tyler on Friday first. I don't normally ride big hills, this should be interesting 8)

But really, It'll be fine. I learned how to do sibald in a day. Or if you want, we can go to those hills in cresskill I was talking about and save siblad for sunday, or just go with the flow and just skate where ever.
And yes, I believe I know what you are talking about with "The Jerk". The best part about that movie is the cat juggling.

Sorry guys, I can't go to this session, and probley can't go to any other after it for a while. My mom doesn't "trust them enough", even though she met Sensei and Sean. I'm so pissed off. Well, have fun and post some pics.
Ahh, that sucks man
Well, we will be sure to take lots of pics for ya, and maybe Ned can photoshop some of the pictures from last sunday to the new ones so it will be like you were there.

That sucks kid!
Well, if it makes your mom feel better, I'm over 40, own a house, have several major credit cards, and am fairly responsible!
You probably shouldn't show her a picture of me though

my mom finds it weired that older guys want to hang out with teenagers. i tried to tell her that our age really doesn't matter, we just wana skate. she just doesn't get it. she thinks everybody has these sick plans to butt-rape me or something. skating alone isn't as fun now that i've experienced skating with a group.
you should tell her that there are girls there too. that might make her feel better about us "old" folks...

yeah, i told her about Liz and Boot. She still said no. I know shes doing it to keep me safe, and I respect that but eventually shes going to have to let me go, or i'll go on my own.
sean, that'll be cool, i found out how much fun banks really are and want to do some more.

Unfortunately, I can't blame her The world is a phucked up place and she is right to be worried about you. I think if I had a kid, I'd probably be the same way.
Does she have any interest in accompanying you to one of these events? She might have a different opinion if she saw what went on. Sensei has introduced a bunch of kids to skating, partly because it's fun, but also because it gives the kids something to do that keeps them out of trouble and not shooting up heroin. I've done the same thing. I'd much rather see a kid all scabbed up from trying to drop in on a halpipe than see a kid doing too much weed or drunk at 14. I'm no priest or anything, kids are kids and they're probably gonna do that stuff anyway. But it would be better if they were a little older before they had the opportunity
Trying not to sound like a bitter old man or anything, but Sensei and I have discussed this before. We've both done stupid $hit when we were young, and I've lost friends that were waaaaaaaay too young to drugs and alchohol and doing stupid stuff. Funerals for teenagers ALWAYS suck!!!! So we both try to help kids out a little - take 'em skatin', hook 'em up with our old skate gear, show 'em how to drop in, show 'em how to slalom, stuff like that.
And that's why your Mom is lookin' out for you, 'cause she loves your dumb a$$
My Mom let us build a halfpipe in our backyard. Her friends thought she was insane. But her response was, "Hey at least I know what he's doing and who he's hangin' out with!" She was pretty smart for a naggin' old lady!! And to her credit, I'm still alive! And even MORE surprising, I still hang out with the same 2 guys! Except that we all have jobs and homes and wives and kids of our own
All this being said, don't trip on it too hard. She's really just tryin' to be a good Mom and look out for you. And to her credit, she's doing a good job - you're a good kid, georgey!
