Unfortunately, I can't blame her The world is a phucked up place and she is right to be worried about you. I think if I had a kid, I'd probably be the same way.

Does she have any interest in accompanying you to one of these events? She might have a different opinion if she saw what went on. Sensei has introduced a bunch of kids to skating, partly because it's fun, but also because it gives the kids something to do that keeps them out of trouble and not shooting up heroin. I've done the same thing. I'd much rather see a kid all scabbed up from trying to drop in on a halpipe than see a kid doing too much weed or drunk at 14. I'm no priest or anything, kids are kids and they're probably gonna do that stuff anyway. But it would be better if they were a little older before they had the opportunity

Trying not to sound like a bitter old man or anything, but Sensei and I have discussed this before. We've both done stupid $hit when we were young, and I've lost friends that were waaaaaaaay too young to drugs and alchohol and doing stupid stuff. Funerals for teenagers ALWAYS suck!!!! So we both try to help kids out a little - take 'em skatin', hook 'em up with our old skate gear, show 'em how to drop in, show 'em how to slalom, stuff like that.

And that's why your Mom is lookin' out for you, 'cause she loves your dumb a$$

My Mom let us build a halfpipe in our backyard. Her friends thought she was insane. But her response was, "Hey at least I know what he's doing and who he's hangin' out with!" She was pretty smart for a naggin' old lady!! And to her credit, I'm still alive! And even MORE surprising, I still hang out with the same 2 guys! Except that we all have jobs and homes and wives and kids of our own

All this being said, don't trip on it too hard. She's really just tryin' to be a good Mom and look out for you. And to her credit, she's doing a good job - you're a good kid, georgey!
i see what you mean. i'll talk to her and see if she would let me go if she came along, or mabey my dad could come. thanks.

    hey everyone,
last night i designed the most mac-daddy camera mount ever for a bicycle, so that the dv-camera skims the pavement and shoots wide angle/fisheye right behind the skater. i can't believe how cool it is -- i'm stoked. i'm gonna shoot some tonight with my roommate to test it out.

question: does anyone in jersey have a spare mountain bike lying around that i could use during the hills session? it sounds like it's a pain in the butt to carry a bike onto NJ rails. if not, no big deal -- i'll find a way to get a bike there.

@ Ned- Right on!!! I don't have a bike but I'm sure we can find ya one, worse comes to worse I think my Fiance's mom has one that she never uses.

@ George-That sucks dude. I think its kinda weird that your Mom's this over-protective now, after she just dropped you off at my house without even meeting me. She's just looking out for you though. Show her some pictures of what went on and tell her to come along on the next session.

On a side note, and no offense to you younger guys, but parents are being waaaay to over-protective now a days and its turning there kids into fat little wimpy winey weirdos with no social skills whats so ever. I see it everyday being a martial arts instructor. There was just as much crime and just as many weirdo's 20 years ago, the media just wasn't covering it as much. To me, Media= . You don't even see kids outside playing anymore unless you go through the ghetto. And then people wonder why there kid's fat as a house, or why he has social problems and then they send them to my family's school thinking we can magically fix it, when in reality these are the hardest kids in the world to teach anything too.

Sorry Rant over- George, make sure you don't show your Mom this post.

Is Liberty one of the bigger hills we're attempting? If so, maybe that'll work well... I'll just try the bike video rig near the end of the day -- that way we won't have to keep loading it into the car. Thanks for the offer!

You know, we will save both George and Bob: I"LL GET DOWN WITH THE STRIPPERS!!!!!! Considering I couldn't get any if they were giving it away at Sams Club during free sample time.

Sensei- I agree with you whole hartedly. We are raising our kids to be gambling addicts with all of those damn card games, and fat lards that sit in front of the newest gaming device all day and eat nothing but junk all day. I hate it.

You never know, might ad momentum.......

Now, the reall trick is to see all three of you get into a speed tuck to minimize drag. And no I'm not talking about the kind where you wear your mom's clothes around the house. Sorry Boe
