ok, this past weekend Rabid Skunk, Longbord1 and I scouted out spots in Connecticut near Danbury and New Fairfield (about 1 hour-15 minutes from NYC). the trip was ok, but we didn't find the holy grail of hills that I wanted; we never got quite far enough away from the suburbs to get completely out of traffic. on a positive note, we definitely found some nice terrain and some pretty killer sliding hills for the Earthwing crew.

i'd like to try one more trip before winter (maybe weekend of Nov. 11-12), and see if Doxastic, Jam, Mike D, JessicaCorchia, or any other RIPPERS might want to head out too. my latest Google maps search takes me to a few roads called Bog Hollow Rd and Macedonia Rd (Hwy 341) which curve through the Macedonia State Forest off Hwy 7 for about five miles, and Smithfield Valley Rd. This area looks desolate and beautiful.

LB1, can you check out the elevations/grades on hills in that area? It looks on satellite to be a mix of hills and valleys.

lemme know if there's any interest.
I'd love to shoot lots of footage before winter.

Ned: that's sounds good. My ex-gf is in town for a week starting Thursday. So no ripp'n until she's gone. But, I'd loooooooove to tear some sh*t up in CT before VA. The 11th/12th is perfect.

I can't really tell which road is which, especially since the same road changes names. But, they all look like fun to me.

Ned: I'm going to have to come by and use your Dremel before we hit up CT. I need to get my Avenger or S9-Race Pogo compatible. I haven't decided which one I'm going to keep. But I will know by then.

Quick observation: Sunday is marathon day. While they're all runnin down 4th Ave in Brooklyn, all the streets between 4th and 5th are closed to traffic. Those are loong blocks and some of them (like First St where I live) have new asphalt and a decent slope to them. Some are also double-wide like Ninth St, or Union St.

The streets with the best slope between 4th and 5th avenues are the low 40's running downhill from sunset park. I ripped them last summer when they were closed by Con Ed.

hey guys, i'm still thinking about going out to CT again this weekend if weather holds out.
probably leave early saturday morning to scout out these spots.

Doxastic, can you take off a whole day? hopefully we'll have some new dropped decks to test out.
