Re: New York, Long Island Garages
Just wanted to post this in case anyone from Long Island wants to hit some HUGE hills in NC in about a month:
Blue Ridge Freeride Weekend, Nc
It's a bit of a long drive from NY, but should be a fantastic event with skaters from all over the east coast.

Re: New York, Long Island Garages
Yo i found the ultimate cruise hill ever, it's in sea cliff perfect road the whole way down not busy on sundays and it's like a 1 1/2 miles, it's the greatest hill ever, theres steep driveways u can pull some slides on n the side streets look like there at a 45 degree angle so u can bomb those n continue your run down the hill, u do like a constant 20-25 mph down hill, seacliff is right by glencove i can get the map quest, Kissam Ln, Seacliff

Re: New York, Long Island Garages
I don't think Seacliff is to far away from the Cage ( north and west right?) maybe we could get a Sunday morning through afternoon multi area session going if the weather is right.

Re: New York, Long Island Garages
Sorry to barge your L.I. Garage forum but I thought some of you might find this interesting.
Gonna start doing Wednesday evening slalom sessions starting this Wednesday, March 23 and continueing (hopefully) every Wednesday of the summer, weather permitting.
Start time is around 5:30 to 6:00 p.m.
Directions:
LIE exit 63 north, to Bicycle Path road. Left at the T. First left into Brookhaven town Ampitheatre parking lot. (huge, 6 lane entrance. can't miss it). Parking lot to the right is it.
This is a soapbox derby hill. Perfect pavement. Nice pitch.
C'mon out if you like. The more the merrier. Right now it's just me.
I've got lots of cones and a few extra boards.

Re: New York, Long Island Garages
Troy, can you post a pic of the spot??? i remember seeing a hill that someone posted in another slalom forum -- it's a nice slalom hill in a parking lot in Brookhaven with bleachers on the side??? I'd love to run that sometime; looks awesome. I'll check it out one night. Does the LIRR go that far, or should I drive? sorry for all the questions.

Re: New York, Long Island Garages
I'll try and post a pic but, yes, the pic you saw (at slalomskateboarder.com) is the hill.
It's very near the Vets memorial.
The LIRR goes from Manhattan to Montauk. However I think the nearest train station is in Medford. Not very close.

Re: New York, Long Island Garages
I'm not going to be able to make it out this weekend. I think the weather may have left the garages unskatable anyway. Hopefully the weather is better next weekend.
Troy, I'm not a slalom guy, but that hill looks nice. Definately try to come out to one of our sessions. Two weeks ago Ned and LB1 were running some cones while the rest of us were skating the garages. The more disciplines we have the better!
