I'm really glad the Long Island 'Pigeon Kickers' are gonna make it in!!!

Dave, sounds like a kickass plan. The BBQ at my house will probably run from 3/4pm till 9pm, so you'll have plenty of time to skate the Brooklyn Banks then come out and listen to Jessica's band rock plus knock back some burgers/beer/halfpipe action.

Just throwing out some different options for getting to NYC:

    • Take the LIRR into Penn Station, then skate over to Central Park from 34th Street.
    • Take the LIRR to Woodside Station (Queens) and take the subway in from my house with a big group of skaters; leave extra boards/stuff at the house.
    • Drive into Woodside and park at my house, then take the subway in for the race and the banks.
    • Drive into the city and park near Central Park with a car/van full of quivers.

If you bring an extra board to the Central Park Race, there will definitely be someone who can watch over it while you skate around the park. There will be lots of extra people just hanging out watching the race. But it'd also be nice to have the van for you guys to drive down to the banks and store stuff during the race.

Li skaterdude, definitely plan on hanging out with us until the Slide Competition -- lots of skaters (Rabid Skunk, Crappysurfer2, Sofa King and friends) will just be chilling out at the house until it's time to hit the contest around 10pm. Hopefully the weather holds out, but regardless we'll get some good skating in (bring a set of trash bearings and a rain board just in case).

thanks ned, i'll definitly be hanging at your house before the slide comp. Thats not such a bad idea on the rain board either, just looked at the 10 day and there is a chance of another wet race, but i don't think anyone would mind getting wet, right??? with so many people coming out and so much planed i can't really see this getting rained out. I would much rather skate in the rain with 100 people then skate on a beautiful day with 20. anyway, i'm hoping for sun and can't wait for this epic day.
When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself.

mike, are you still planing on driving in?
As it stands now I'm on the list for overtime which means I will most likely have to be at work by 3:00pm. If thats the case I would like to drive in so I can split the city by 1:30 - 2:00. I'm gonna try to trade with someone for Sunday instead but I won't know for a day or two.
option 2 is if the weather doesn't look good for Sat. , I'm thinking of taking Fri. off or take a 1/2 day and go to Owls Head and then meet up with the Earthwing crew at the RIP.

I am up for whatever goes on. Although I hate the friggin rain(I have to work in it whenever it happens), so if it is wet I am going to put the vanguard in a plastic bag and then stand around pissed off but I will still drink beer at Ned's. I am screwed for Sunday so I couldn't even make the rain date. Let me know how you guy's want to go in. I am still contemplating going in from out here and skating over from penn ( arriving there around an hour before race time so that I can skate around) I would still be up for meeting at mineola. My rant is now over

It looks like I have traded out of Sat for Sun so I'll be around for the race and Neds BBQ. If you guys want to drive in , I'm open. I'm thinking of going into Bklyn early( that Owls Head is on ), then heading into Manhattan. We could do an hour at Owls, hour Bklyn. Banks, break, head to Central Park, Neds - what ever.

Mike that's great that you were able to swap day's. I have always wanted to go to owl's head ever since I first saw it. I am up for what you are thinking.

    Heya folks,

I've posted here once before a while ago, but now that I'm actually back on long island, figured say hello to my fellow long island longboarders.

I live around around Oyster Bay and work at Jones Beach so if anyone is up for skating Nickerson Park, Oyster Bay hills, or anything in between let me know!

I actually checked out Nickerson for the first time today. I was at Jones Beach taking care of the preliminary nonsense for my job when i remembered Nickerson Beach was just a few miles away, and I had both of my boards sitting in my trunk and I felt compelled to check it out. It was great to be in a park for the first time since 516 closed down. It was, however, pretty empty, and it'd be good to see some more longboarders in there!

Been planning on it. Figured it would be quite a sight to see. I'm also planning on hitting up the slide comp to make it a full day of skating.

    Hey Hem,
Welcome back, I remember you posting up a while ago. What did you think of Nickerson? Phil and I have been there a couple times, it's a fun park. We'll definately hit it again, so if you're interested in going just post up. Also, no worries about the hills we hit and your abilities, I've been skating 20+ years but I just started hitting hills last summer. Just keep an eye out for sessions and come on out.

Yeah, I was at Nickerson yesterday AM, and it was a ghost town, which was good. Has anybody rode the park in Huntington? That park looks sweet!
