Re: New York, Long Island Garages
I ran into some of you while in Ft. Tryon this past Sunday (I'm the guy on the Fibreflex Slalom board with my son on his first - and I hope last - scooter). You pointed me at SIlverfish.
I live right here by Ft. Tryon park and would love to connect next time you guys come to ride.
I also have a car and can be convinced to drive to cool spots...I'm in and out of town for the next couple of weeks, but do want to attempt to ride/keep up with you guys.
My name is Mike and I'm of the old school....Started on clay and remember my first ride on urethane...
Cheers,
M

I skated there yesterday, "new rule, close 6 PM" - Shaggy, keeper of the bowl. As far as the year goes......... there is no definitive answer, I'm just gonna keep riding till the chains go back up.

Re: New York, Long Island Garages
took a long lunch breach today and skated owls head for about 45 minutes.
there was a guy on an alva doing some very stylish berts on the banks.
re: hours,
dave at the door said we're good for the rest of the october.
*most likely* weekdays too.
he's pushing for weekend sessions through november, but the higher ups aren't sure.
he seemed to think that some well written letters might do the trick to convince the city to extend the park hours, and that the folks making the decisions aren't aware that there is demand. i promised myself i'd remember the names he gave me to send a letter to, but they've gone down the memory hole.
i'm sure that other folks have lobbied to try and keep the park open year round, but maybe it's worth another shot. next trip i will bring a *pen* to write down the names, and pass along the contact info if people are interested.

Me and Joe are heading up to Stamford for an early session. I have to be back by 12:00. I'm leaving Massapequa at 7:00. I might be bringing some longboards for sale if anyone is interested.

Re: New York, Long Island Garages
Hey its me Bill (Stamford). I was talking to SXE Phil and Devilock (Joe) on Saturday about the possible $500K Huntington, NY skatepark. Someone email me at billhelene[at]optonline[dot]net and I'll pass on the contact info of the guy I know who seems to be making inroads with the city folks.
Holy Sh*t I set up a profile on here a long time ago and the avatar is me on a landyachtz in an 8' deep bowl. I forgot about that.

Hey Billy
The most I heard about Huntington is what I got from you. I have my ears open and as soon as i hear something i will let you know. If you are going to any meetings let me know and I'll try to hook up with you. I made a couple of calls in my town and it seems they have nothing on the radar. I hope they do something on the Island while I can still skate.
