Go out and find some. Ditches in urban areas would be hard to find.
Check under and around freeways for ditches and behind big stores and in alleys for banks.
yeah seriously, just look around. ditches arent hard to find, but those who have found them have a hard time leaking the location to any bloke on the internet.
yo I'm a rochestafarian.....err rochesterian during the school year. no ditches that I know of but check out the mount hope cemetery for some sick trails (mixed quality pavement) and highland park for several insane runs as well (try to do it in the evening to avoid couples taking pictures of their babies in the flowers and oooold people with walkers- may not really be allowed to skate there) also a couple of parking garages- avoid the hotel one with the super tight spiral of death- not only is it unrideable but their security doesnt like longboarders

its not imposible, you just need more practice. in vancouver we have a spiral of death that is insane, and then the secret spiral, which is a little bit more sane but still really hard, and the cambie spiral, which is easy, but yeah the death spiral is about as deadly as they come and its not for everyone, but its do-able. you have to drift the whole thing pretty much

Any old parking garage or is the spiral of death in one of its own?

highland park definitely has some sweet runs.
with garages, 1 or 2 runs ONLY then bail. there are plenty of others to go to. the hospital garage was hot for a long time because we did one too many runs and the security guard made up a story about us trying to break into cars and called the cops.
i haven't personally seen any ditches, but we will definitely look when were up there again for school. we have a decent sized group of skaters at RIT.
I skated Highland Park last night and can see some potential there. I haven't had much time to investigate the town yet but plan on travelling for bigger hills. I think the spiral of death is gone (colapse) but will be looking for garages around town. I will be heading to Mount Princeton Ski Area to recon some roads. The drive up from Penn State I sure saw heaps of stuff I will try to hit before the new year. If ya wanna trade some info I would greatly appreciate.

highland park has some fun trails, and we also skate route 15 at night when the traffic goes down.
one hour south has some nutty hills (1000ft drop over 1 mile). specifically, i found a run similar to that in the rizzo video of bombing claremont canyon.
the airport has a 3 level spiral garage, there is also a 9 level garage for a hospital in the city
EDIT: Wow, i did not realize i was tricked into resurrection. Vinny, this thread was three years old, bud

Highland park has always looked good but I've never skated there. I'm a Rochesterian but now I live south of the city in Geneseo. The entire town and campus is on one big slope... I can't believe more people don't flock here for the downhill experience. I live at the very top of the town --- The campus commons is near the bottom, so I use the college bus system as my own personal ski lift. There are no longboarders here except me that I know of. What a waste!
Anyway, I visit RIT almost every weekend. I wanna skate there. We'll have to rock and/or roll before it gets too cold.
