Jam,
Mike D says he's definitely in, Brian's on the fence but we'll convince him to go, and I'll check with others at the Rip this week. Sounds like CT and Jersey will be well represented...
Anyone have any ideas how to get there? I can't find train information to wherever Sensei mentioned. I can get into Grand central but don't know where to go from there.

Take a train into NYC and then one to Seakaukus (sp?). From there you can catch one to Hillsdale... Or at least I think it used to be like that... Ned? Didn't you do this once?
The Pascak Valley line doesn't run for sh!t on the weekends, at least the last time I checked. Ned can help you out better then I can, but if you can get into NYC, you can get to the Hawthorne station, trains run there every hour. Its the Main Line/Bergan County Line.
Like I said though, Ned's the man to ask.
Sadly, NJ will not be well represented. Tyler's stuck at college in Ohio and Beef has to work. Haven't heard from the Fat man about it either, but he probably has some sort of Pie eating convention. It might just be me. SUCKS.

The Hillsdale train doesn't run on weekends, period. You gotta take NJ Transit train from New York Penn Station to Hawthorne and hitch a ride, just as Sensei says above. Or, better yet, take the NJ Transit bus from New York City Port Authority to Westwood, NJ and mapquest it to the intersection of Magnolia and Liberty in Hillsdale NJ (about a 10 minute skate from Westwood -- I've done it several times). Plan to take the train back to New York from Hawthorne NJ after Bob's Big A$$ Run. We'll exchange cell phone numbers and can pick people up if they get lost.
Fatboy wrote back that he's got it tentatively on his calendar, so hopefully he'll be able show up. We should find out if George, Boot and Philo are around too, we haven't skated with them in a long time.
Overall, this probably won't be a huge session but we'll have a solid turnout. Sounds like we definitely have Sensei, Nervous Ned, Pyrate, Jam, Rabid Skunk, Ryan, Longbord1, and Sofa King. That's a pretty impressive start. I'll ask Martin Siegrist if he wants to skate with us (he'll be in NYC that weekend); plus Animal Chin, Dr Worm, Captain Matt, CS2, Zogs, YumYum, and Silverflake as possibles.
Damnnnnn, it SUCKS Roastbeef has to work. My favorite part from the Sibbald video is when he says, "man, i'm nervous," even though he's run that hill a hundred times.
For those planning on running Sibbald, please read: This spot is Tyler and Beef's spot, but their cool enough to let me bring a bunch of you over there to ride, so I want to make sure that it doesn't get blown out and it being my fault the spot gets ruined (they found it, they own it, same thing with my spots you guys will be going to. (See Salba's pool rules for more clarification )
1. You CANNOT RIDE WITHOUT A HELMET. The cops do come every once in a while and check to see if we are wearing helmets and safety gear while riding this hill. We've never had a problem as long as everyone has a helmet. You guys wanna run the risk of cracking your heads open on my hills, that's your thing. But for SIBBALD, you need a lid. Also please be respectful if the cops do come. Normally their pretty chill about it.
2. Ride WITHIN YOUR LIMITS. Yeah, I know a bunch of you probably just flexed your keyboard muscles and are about to flame me, but I don't care. This Hill is serious and is actually faster then it looks. I'm still working my way to the top of it. All we need is one instant where the ambulance is picking somebody off of it with a spatula and the spot is wrecked. Nobody needs to impress anybody, we are all going to just have a good time. If your in doubt, just work it from the bottom, Mailbox to mailbox. I think I'm at 136 now
3. If the HOT CHICK is out washing her car in her bikini, try not to stare and keep your eyes on the road. There's a few milf's that have potentially caused wrecks too
Sorry for the rules, just want to make sure I do everything possible to prevent wrecking a spot as Timeless as Sibbald. Its the crown in the NJDB's spotlist, so we all want to protect it. Most important thing is YOU NEED A HELMET.
Thanks.

The problem being in a 2 man shop is you can't call out sick for work, if I can get someone to cover me I will post as soon as I can find out. If successful, I will have space in car for 3 or 4 from Prospect Park.
AHHH!!!!! I want to come out and ride by my DH setup is dead since I moved to NYC. I still have a trilam, but I don't want to take that thing up to 40.
Thats right, there are rules for Sibald, and since Ant and Myself wont be there to enforce them, Bob will and I really dont think you want to #### with him.
1. Helmet and Pads are required. I dont care who you are. You will get that spot busted for us if you try and "be cool". I cant tell you how many pounds of skin I have left on that hill.
2. Pick up all of your trash and dont throw anything down the drains. I cant stress this enough. When you leave, it better look like you were never there in the first place.
3. Be respectful. Over the years, Ant and I have developed a sort of relationship with the people on the hill. As long as we cater to them, they cater to us. No swearing or screaming at them if they ask you to do something or move out of the way or whatever. Try and engage them in polite conversation if you can. Remember its their neighborhood, not yours and they can call the cops and have it busted anytime they want to.
4. Leave the Hot Girl alone. She might come out and watch but dont harass her. Shes very nice, but younger than she looks. Just be carefull.
5. It is not acceptable to be on other peoples property, unless you accidentally slide into their lawn on a bail. No tresspassing what so ever. There are two designated places to "hang out" and make base camp and Bob can show you where those are.
Im coming back to Jersey in about three weeks for a weekend, and Id rather spend my time at the skatepark and with my girlfriend than having to go door to door and to the city to punch people in the face. If you think I wont do it, you dont know me well enough.

If you are still coming we can switch off on my evo so at least you get to ride. And for a helmet I have a fullface and I'm bringing my textile jacket. This is going to be sweet.

These rules basically apply for all the hills were going to, but will be enforced strictly on SIBBALD. But I don't think you guys need to be reminded of these. Its just common respect for a spot. I currently am devolping a relationship with the people on the hills by my house too, which is really cool because technically its a "private community" (condos) so they could have me booted at anytime. Last night alot of the kids came out to watch me and would warn me if a car was coming up the hill. Pretty cool.
This should be a nice chill session.

oohhhh yeah, i'm planning to shoot some sick video -- already started packing my equipment and tuning up my bike mount!!! may even show up with a brand new camera too if everything goes according to plan.
Is it possible to carve out your speed on this hill, or do you have to slide stop? I still haven't mastered sliding. So if you have to slide stop at the bottom, I'd be pretty screwed. The only time I fear speed is when I have no way to stop. Going fast is easy. Stopping is the hard part.
Sibbald has a pretty long run-out at the bottom (watch the video on the first page of this thread and you'll see what I mean), but it's good to know how to safety slide on hills like this; if a car darts out from a driveway (unlikely but possible), you should always have a backup plan in my opinion. like sensei suggested, it might be a good idea to start low and work up mailbox by mailbox if you haven't done much DH before. this hill is really fun and challenging even from half-way. i doubt you'll have any problem on Liberty, and Bob's Big Ass run is pretty carvable if i remember right.
All the hills have runouts. I'm horrible at sliding. I know how to safety slide, but I hate doing it. I have a bad shoulder and I'm too fat to put all my weight on one arm. Funny Ned should mention the car backing out thing, it happened to me last night. I thought for a second I was actually going to have to slide, but luckily they saw me and stopped and I was able to fly by.
So to recap, all hills are carvable, all hills have runouts. Sibbald has perfect pavement, but the rest your going to want softies. Unless your doing nothing but sliding.

Update, I just got back from taking some runs and scouted some of the runs for this jam, and found out some very cool things.
Bob's Big Ass Run is now freshly paved and butter smooth. There's a nice turn right before it on a 12% grade, so you can take the turn and then try to make the 90 degree turn into the Big Ass run, or you can keep going straight for a totally seperate run and a runout.
PLUS: They just paved a run literally across the street from my house by a high school, that was prevously undoable because of chopped up pavement. Pretty steep with a crazy right hand hook in it.
This is looking to be a good session. We might want to start early if we want to try and hit everything.
