    Default nyc training session

so i'm new to longboarding and i live in nyc.

anyone round here feel like going for a training ride with me? i've been mainly going around in riverside park; i live near the 103rd street entrance. i'd love to learn how to pump and how to stop the damn board when i get to intersections. for the moment i'm staying off the real streets, i have no desire to loose a board to cars, nor my life/health...

we could even get a small group together one day, if there are enough interested people.

some organized rides. good group of people.

there's also a longboard race on 10/25 from 110th to the end of B'way.

thanks ted, i'm signed up there now.

there's now way i'd be competent enough to race down b-way without getting seriously creamed by a taxi, hopefully next year

Also you should try Central Park on the weekend.
If the weather is nice, you're sure to see other longboarders

No car traffic, which would be a plus for you.
But lots of joggers, rollerbladers, and cyclists to watch out for.

Beware of the cyclists, they have no sense of humor and don't
    understand carving.

    fun day of longboarding today.

i met up with tedruxpin and another gentelman from the freshpaved crew here in nyc. i watched them hit snake hill, which was way too steep for me. they both showed me some beautiful deep carves and it was way fun to see ted slide, he was even nailing 360s.
then it was off to the cloisters where i watched little scraps of my pants flying off behind me as i bailed from a croutch onto my knee. (thank you pro designed) perhaps i should put the pads over my pants next time ...nah.

after a pitstop for some bloody marys i went alone to central park and enjoyed a nice mellow ride, did some solid carving and wore my legs out pushing up the low hills.

very cool to meet those two, i'm still interersted in riding with anyone else here in the city, so drop me a line.
