You mean Pro/Am isn't determined for you?....What makes one Pro?

Your choice. Pro will most likely offer stiffer competition, closer racing, and much more aggresive skating in general...not to mention a shot at the prize purse. Amateur will just be a more relaxed version with riders who do not feel comfortable or simply do not want to bother with the pro racing.

I took a bad fall on 5/24/2008 at Mt. Baker, went off the road and fell down the side of the mountain. I went into a coma, badly broke my pelvis, lacerated my liver and almost died on the mountain AND later in the hospital. The rehabilitation therapists had to teach me how to do everything again...everything.

I survived that mountain because of my helmet...WEAR ONE and send your family to the hospital, not the morgue.

Ah I see. This will be my first non-outlaw race, so I will likely register for the Amature division.

GSI usually wants a rider to have done atleast 5 or 6 races before going Pro, but you'll get bumped up if your really good or if you are just naturally talented like Niko who went pro in at his first MCGF after 2 races i think...

AJ, did you just completely pull that out of your ass?

    1. GSI has never made distinction in speedboarding between pro and am
    2. Even IGSA does not distinguish between pro and am for speedboarding
    3. GSI is not even running MCGF this year

What you said may be true for luge, but speedboard (until now apparently) has never made the distinction between pro and am riders. Unless I'm mistaken, Neil also said that it will be up to the riders to decide which class they wish to enter.

I can list the names.....I have that ability, but I will not. I have been asked by racers in the past not to name them so I generally do not for any event. I can tell you this....you will race PEOPLE whichever you choose Seriously though there are more entered in Pro than in Am at the moment.

Justin is correct. EDI may have split the two when they were running events, I can't remember. No other org to the best of my knowledge has done so. I did this at the suggestion of a pro racer, we'll see how it works.

Pro or Am is the riders decision. Cash on the line for Pro not with Am. If you don't think you have a chance at a podium in Pro race Am. Riders cherrypicking the Am class are sure to punked by their fellow racers.

Make speedboard racing on Sunday!! Stand up is harder than luge so the standup guys should get an extra day of practice. The newbies will not have as much fun racing after they get one practice run in. I know if I were a beginner I would want to have as much time on the hill before racing it. Save the best for last!

A streetluger can get used to a hill much faster than a speedboarder.
