Re: Madison County Gravity Fest VI
"i would love to race, but feel sort of have doubts since I haven't ever been over 35mph on a board. My area really doesn't allow that without gettin killed by crappy pavement, or traffic. Still thinking about it though, wonder if many people my age race."
If you can get yourself there, I think it is worth the trip, even though you may not have the opportunity or skill to race/push it to the limit on the course. Make sure you have leathers and a fullface of some sort and you will be ready to ride. Practice your footbreaking, tucking, and (for safety) sliding as much as possible, and if you ride enough, getting used to the speed won't be that hard. Before then, there will be multiple opportunities to get some good speedboarding done.
"I'd like to race but i'm a noob at Dh. Theres a good amount of time to register though so maybe if I get better I'd enter. The only problem might be leathers."
Get leathers ASAP. They are the most important set of equipment you will purchase.

Re: Madison County Gravity Fest VI
If you're on the fence about going, definitely go. You don't have to race, and it's a good opportunity to skate a sick hill with hay bales, no cars, and cool people.

Re: Madison County Gravity Fest VI
With regard to the classes being offered....junior has been a part of MCGF for the last six years and always will, it is a luge/buttboard class. That is the only junior class.
Skaters, like yourselves have asked for and wrote of the desire to have a class that they would feel comfortable racing riders of similar skills thus the adding of the AM class. There will be NO regulation or criteria for entering either class it is strictly an option offered. If you wish to race the best racers and have a shot at the prize purse then enter the pro class...those still working on honing their skills and know they have no shot at the money or have other reason can join the am class, either way everyone races, everyone has fun.
The total number of classes being run this year will be LESS than previous years, even with the adding of the am speedboard class so EVERYONE will get more time on the hill. To respond to the "3 classes each of buttboard, gravity bike, and dirtsurfer..." That would be nine classes and there are currently only plans for three, NOT nine. Yes there has been three classes of buttboard in the past but this year it has been REDUCED TO ONE. There has been in the past two gravitybike classes and this year (as with last year) there WILL BE ONE. Inline has been ONE CLASS and that is the way it is currently layed out for this year.

CS2, you are right, caught it and edited text-not title, thanks. Still working on the joke though...LOL
GravityRider & Ian- There will be practice only allowed, information will be on the website when we release registration. Either way you should come out and get to know some of the racers and pick up pointers, you can learn lots.
So their will be like practice runs where anyone can skate? Thats sick. I'm seriously thinking about going to thid.

Re: Madison County Gravity Fest VI
There will be a set practice time that is "open" to all riders, when racing starts riders can take practice runs behind the last heat. You can sign up for practice only and ride for both days for a fee.

Re: Madison County Gravity Fest VI
will speedboarders be able to sign up for both AM and PRO?

Re: Madison County Gravity Fest VI
Congrats Doc! Even though I was already looking forward to this upcoming event, I am now even more so! I am also looking forward to the info on the other east coast races.
And anyone who is on the fence about attending, this is an awesome event to learn from others in an environment that is unbelieveable. The community is amazing with 100% support lending to a vibe that makes us skaters feel like rock stars! Here I am an old fart scrub running his very first race actually signing autographs!!! And the hill is great too!

Re: Madison County Gravity Fest VI
No, you have the choice between the two.....can only race in one.
Intentionally racing in a lower skilled class in an attempt to ensure your chances of a higher finish is called Cherry Picking. We will not be checking who is racing what, but imagine fellow speedboarders will.

Re: Madison County Gravity Fest VI
When the schedule is released you can enter as many classes as you qualify for that are NOT scheduled to run with each other. Example if it states that speedboard and am luge run together then you must choose one. THAT IS ONLY AN EXAMPLE, wait to see the schedule.

Can't ####### wait for this. So pissed I wasn't there last year. This and FoS are gonna be the highlight of my summer, and hopefully some more races are gonna be around the east coast by then too.

Re: Madison County Gravity Fest VI
i can't believe you guys are getting my stoked this early in the year for this race.....curse you all!
and all of this trash talk about past events.....what are you talking about???!!?? sure there has been some issues....but they are just mear cracks in the road and they are quickly run over and forgotten about before the next turn. DrNo has been a great guy throughout the fews years that i have been to MCGF and Ascutney. whenever in a pinch he finds a way to make everything work and get people down the hill.
bottom line is that i am just as stoked as ever for MCGF and this year i am seeking blood......the east coast (nothern in particular) is taking you down Niko!!!!
