So I was looking around on google earth today and found a pretty nice run. I checked the grade and it came out to 9.1. No hairpins, it's relatively straight but it looks good. I don't know how to paste a picture from goggle earth so just search it on google maps or earth. On google earth it has a picture of a washington rock statepark sign. I started from there and ended right before RT.22.
I checked it out the other day and it seems pretty fast, the road is in ok shape, a few small potholes you may have to dodge but no big problems. Though it was raining when I checked it out so take my assesment with a grain of salt. The only problem i foresee is the end, theres not much of a run out, you would have to either slide or start footbraking early. Theres much better roads in the area though, all along 22 theres good hills, i spotted a few awesome cornering spots.
this is 20 minutes from my house though im not around there often. we have better spots in general so we hadnt bothered to venture that far down the highway yet plus the way i had remembered it was that rt22 would be the problerm.
i took a ride out yesterday with my kids(the view from the park is awesome, on a clear day you could probably see nyc) and i have to agree with pat's assessment. it looks pretty fast, the roads just ok(no shoulder) and the end is a problem. i would also add that being that its right off rt22 traffic could be a concern. there are other roads off of rt22 but again usually the end( a light on rt22) or the amount of traffic becomes an issue.
there are a bunch of spots we have scouted and still plan on scouting around this area. and a spring session will eventually be happening.
pat, maybe we can work out an after work session when the days start getting longer providing i can find a babysitter.
