Default Big Hills near NYC

SATURDAY: SOUTH NYACK SLOWDOWN SHOWDOWN

Hoboken Pat and I found massively badass hills close to NYC in the NNJ/Rockland area. It's got some back-to-back hairpins, steep straights, and driveways with occasionally sketchy pavement. There's also a mountain access road with two separate runs that could be mid-30s easily. We sessioned corners for a few hours last week and definitely did some damage to our wheels. Think the spot that must not be named; but actually steep, curvy, and awesome.

I'm hoping to get 5 people together to explore and do car runs on Saturday. I'm down, Pat's down, Jam is down, who else wants in? Earthwing team? CT interlocutors? Brooklyn high school contingent? Port Washington? Jersey boys? I can pick people up from Metro-North. Safety meetings are a given.

A note on gear: This is an actually steep hill with sharp corners and a 400' vertical drop over a quarter mile. Carving wont cut it: you'll need soft wheels and slide gloves to get down. I hit it on a Superglider; but a proper DH board would be more appropriate. Leathers would be overkill; but I'm probably gonna strap on the kneepads.

So how to I get there other than by car? If I took the Metro North up in the afternoon would I have a possible ride?

If you took the subway to hoboken I could drive you or I'm sure you could take the train to yonkers and have max drive you.

Speedfiend-no run out really....knowing how to slide well is important for these roads.

edit: I'll also bring a list of about 3 or 4 other gnarly roads in the area to check out. Some of these might require leathers/balls.

Yeah Mcgoon if we organize an outlaw or freeride of some sort we'll definitely let the canucks know. Bring speedboards to the central park race if you come and we could fit some dh shreddage in the schedule for that weekend.

Rockland
Cemetary

is the second road you're talking about Rt. 33 Wells? central highway. Too much traffic, though sick and steep. I have a video of it somewhere.
& I was going to scope Clausland on my next trip to the Bear area, Piermont looks nice from the Tap'n Z and I've seen the backside on Earth.

I would also like to drive out to look at this

Neuros, I noticed that cemetary (with the nice right hairpin) on google earth and tried to check it out yesterday but went the wrong way. (tried to acces the top but it's private prop with a no trespassing sign.)
Max: I drove down clausland off a whim yesterday on the way out and the bottom part is fasssst(think 50), though the top is kinda rolling , a bit down and a bit uphill. I also found a few runs near central highway that are worth checking as well.
We need to spend a full day with a list of places to hit and just drive around and skate all day. Perhaps next saturday.
