Moved to NYC over the winter....now that spring is here I'm throughly sick of staring at my longboards and I'm burning to rip up some hills....or a parking garage. However I don't know a damn thing about this area. Anyways, I'm just want to find some chill people who like to skate (obviously if you're on this site) and skool my ass on Sliding and The City. SO, if anyone has any suggestions or could point me in the right direction. It would be greatly appreciated.

Right here man, we got you covered. We meet every Friday night in Prospect Park to skate, and also skate here and there everywhere else. Look forward to meeting you.
Start by checking out the regional forums dude. The Earthwing RIP in Prospect Park, Brooklyn (Every Friday) is a good place to start. Many many heads. There's a thread about it in NY regional, check it out.
Also check out the great folks at Bustin boards. You just missed the 4/20 Greenskate event but, they have another event planned May 17th in Central Park and beyond, as well as a charity event and party at their loft.
The Central Park race is coming up in June too.
There's a huge scene in NYC dude, seek it and you will find...
Oh, and don't forget the Jersey Jumpoff, if you are brave enough to cross into Dirty Jerze.
Yep, well said above -- just show up at the Earthwing Rip on a Friday night 7:30 till 11pm in Prospect Park and you'll easily meet 25-40 local longboarders on a carvy hill in Park Slope Brooklyn. Here's a link to the thread (go to the first page for directions to the park or to the last page for most recent updates):
Check out the Long Island Crew - Garage sessions New York, Long Island Garages if you're into garage runs. They've got a sick garage called The Cage which is locked down on nights/weekends, and is pretty fun. Easy train ride out on the LIRR.
The Stamford Skate Park thread Stamford Skatepark "official" thread in the New England region if you're into the most amazing concrete bowl/street park on the East Coast.
Check out the Wheelabrator crew Wheelabrator!!!!!!!!!!in Connecticut, they have really fun weekend sessions, just a train ride away on Metro North. Connecticut has the best hills.
There's a hill called Watchtower in Brooklyn that's really the only worthwhile slide hill (NYC is pretty flat as you've learned by now). Skaters at the Rip will tell you more about the location.
The Brooklyn Banks in Manhattan under the Brooklyn Bridge if you're into skating transitions, it's a historical skate landmark.
Central Park's pavement sucks, but you'll see some longboarders out there occasionally.
Yeah I'm kind of new to longboarding and looking for someplace to go. I've been up and down the little hills on the north side of Central Park. Just started trying to slide. Figure it may be a good idea to find a group to roll with, maybe learn a thing or two. So the earthwing rip happens every Fri. in Prospect Park? I may have to check that out. (they noob friendly?..ive not really developed my skill to a level worth bragging about if you catch my meaning.)

Yea we are very "noob" friendly, we don't care what skill(s) you have just hang with us, we can teach you if you need it.
If you need to know how to get to the RIP, you take the F to 15st-Prospect park, you get off, go into the 15st entrance, go down the road, and then you merge right into the main road, you follow that for a few hundred yards, and you'll see us down a little bit from where the big hill starts.
