Thumbs up Harriman State Park NY -MUST READ even for the jersey boys

It is just above the NJ state line called Harriman State Park. This park has too much potential to be shrugged off. If anyone has biked, ran, or just drove through can vouch for me when I say that the hills are long and descend extremely fast. I first visited this last year during a cycling race- cyclists basically look for long hills to climb while longboarders find ones to go down on. I only finished 2/3 laps on a 13+ mile loop. Please don't get scared at this length because it is an ascent and descent. It needs to be scouted a second time.

MapMyRun.com | View Harriman State Park Loop in Bear Mountain, New York

I mapped it on here please visit and click on the elevation check box on the left. You can see a total riding elevation of 558ft. I know it doesn't sound much but if you have ever ridden there points 12-13-1 is extremely fast and 4-3-2-1 is a longer drop so there should be more speed here.

I was watching some videos of the Canadian roads and these are the only ones that can compare closest to NJ. I have been to most of NJ at cycling races and this is the only one that has the type of elevation and roads.

Some more information-

the roads are wide at portions near Lake Welch
since it is a park it is empty
It is very big which is why there isn't any congestion
easily accessible- right off Palisades Parkway

*sorry about the rant but this place is amazing- I hope you guys can ride at it sometime.
*I'm just a beginner but I want to skate this place badly- don't even have a board yet
*it is fast...

2 Vids of a motorcycle going down don't know which road though

I'll be happy to answer any questions

Is there an official name for that loop? Whats the mile marker? I might ride my bike over from the city and check it out.

Dude, Harriman has been bombed to ####. Worldridr's been all over the damn place and I hit Bear last July (and November, and March) and Wells is organizing some riding in Nyack and Piermont as well as the Harriman area... Tomorrow I think? The area is SICK SICK SICK and has a LOT to ride on. I know that not all the sick #### has been hit or found yet... But the area is called The Palisades, how can it not be nice riding?
And I'm one of those cyclist nutjobs.. Uphill is fun! I wish I could carry a bike back down while bombing on a longboard, bringing a board up on a bike isn't hard at all.

I can't find all these roads you guys are talking about. All the roads I found would be sick If the pavement didn't feel like skating on cobble stone.

Some one give me coordinates!

yeah, yo.

I found some nice runs in Hairyman. I'm gonna head up sometime soon, hopefully next weekend or something. There are some nice hills around the Lake Kaunwake Traffic Circle.

Awesome, which routes are best? If it is crazy how come people aren't all over that place? Maybe a session can be held and record a vid to be posted on here.
