Thumbs up For the Jersey Boys -unknown roads

After pondering upon some races I competed in 2 years ago I thought these might spark some interest. It is still in the state park theme for those interested. This mountain is the 2nd highest in NJ called Sunrise Mountain in Brancheville, NJ. The roads are completed deserted and are deep in the forests of New Jersey- the roads are narrow and very technical.

"Starting in the Culvers Gap Parking area, just off Rt. 206 in Sandyston Township, Sussex County, Sunrise Mountain Road gains 600 feet in elevation in a step like series of grades and plateaus as it winds its way through the deep woods along Kittatinny Ridge."

Next is the Corkscrew on the same mountain it is scenic, winding, and goes down.

"Can I ride the legendary "corkscrew" after the race?
Yes, the 3 mile twisting descent on the closed, one-way road down the other side of Sunrise will take you back to the start in an eight mile loop mostly through Stokes State Forest. Cue sheets will be available.
Is Sunrise Mountain Road the best kept cycling secret in New Jersey?
Locals often wonder why more cyclists don't take advantage of the spectacular views, deserted one-way roads and beautiful scenery. Once you ride it, you'll be back."

Food for thought:

Wawayanda State Park I have never been there but maybe it has something to offer. I was just fooling around when I routed this 10+ mile descent. It starts in the park and ends somewhere out.

High Point the highest point in NJ- lets just say I almost died there. Steeps are extremely scary. The route for the time trial started at the base on some busy cliff side main road which goes up and up (reminds me of Colorado roads). It then went into the High Point State Park where my heart rate stayed over 195 for the last 3 miles it was crazy.

Here are some pictures of the finish which doesn't do the gradient justice:

High Point Hill Climb

I will visit when I'm not busy and get gradient pictures of Sunrise Mountain Road and the Corkscrew since the pics of the cyclists are kinda lame.

Sunrise- I have ridden and it was a long and hard steep climb. It is very scenic and closed one lane road.

The Corkscrew: Not ridden but it seems worth it if it is next to Sunrise.

High Point- Ridden near death experience. It is very rolling hills type and is not a gradual descent. It is sporadic and the roads are kinda short. Again I'll try to get pics.

Wawayanda: never been too maybe its good...

Sunrise Mtn. in my opinion is the best choice to visit since it offers two roads. I'll try to visit sometime its very quiet there.

I have no idea. I'm just starting out (don't even have a board yet).

I have only biked at sunrise mtn. and the ride down wasn't a bomb; I had to watch out for guys riding up sorry. Hopefully a local will post here about the roads.

I've been meaning to hit up sunrise mountain for so long!
I had found it on google earth quite a while ago, but never got up there.

And instead of just going down sunrise, I thought that taking that first right hand hairpin onto "the corkscrew" looked like the best run.

That sounds sick- I just didn't know how much space there is for that turn so I didn't route it. From 'earth that turn looks huge though. And also it will be a lot safer making that right since sunrise mtn. road is one way towards the mountain..maybe theres enough room to dodge cars on the way down maybe not. It would totally blow if it didn't!

How far are you from it b.t.w.?
