To have a race on any hill and have it be a "Race" means cutting corners on the inside using every possible inch of the road.
No matter how easy the sweepers are on that lake road with the chance of on coming traffic reguardless of the hill or what anyone else says is NOT a smart idea to throw heats of rider's down because naturally people are going to take line's in the opposite lane to be faster and to pass.
Bad things can/do happen.
Think of your ability to breath for example.
I google earth'd the crap outta the hudson river valley near the park.
I've found stuff with a lot of potential.
I wanna come out that way again soon it's really beautiful there.
But prolly not until after the central park race.

jesus h christ shut the fuck up everybody. I was there, and no we did not blow the spot ("the spot" being the lame warmup hill.) We went and skated, and a ranger happened to be driving by and told us to leave so we did, despite him being wrong on state park rules..... stop the stupid arguing
yes we should lay low for a while, though theres not much within the state park boundaries really worth skating anyways. I found some new #### in the area and theres enough to skate nearby that we need not worry. session weekend after cpr is in order.
Route 9W North just past Bear Mtn has a really nice run with a big parking lot at the bottom.
NOT the hill that climbs after you pass Bear but continuing on, it drop's.
Early morning I bet the place is almost deserted.
Futher down that same road it turns into a divided highway with a 45 mph speed limit.
A few miles long, but crazy as hell.
Steep and Turny.
Route 9W North just past Bear Mtn has a really nice run with a big parking lot at the bottom.
NOT the hill that climbs after you pass Bear but continuing on, it drop's.
Early morning I bet the place is almost deserted.
Futher down that same road it turns into a divided highway with a 45 mph speed limit.
A few miles long, but crazy as hell.

####. Well, if it's going to be mentioned, I might as well mention:
I've driven this. I can only say, if you're going to skate it, don't be a douchebag, and be SURE to wear a fullface (read: not top-half-of-face only). I wanted to skate it but when I was there (November) the road conditions were #### and it scared me to DRIVE DOWN. Rob's right, it would be at LEAST a black diamond, probably double.
So have fun, be safe, take pictures, and don't get busted.

Its the part of 9W that go's through Storm King Forest.
I'm not sure when but sometime this summer I wanna skate it.
EARLY in the AM.
It's a two lane road, so if we can get two follow cars once skaters are going faster than the speed limit the follow cars can keep traffic off our back by blocking both lane's.
