Time for me to post some porn. All of these are within 20 miles or so of harriman.

This one doesn't need a description.

This one is about a mile of 10 degree sweepers.....

    Some fast hairpins.

I meant to check this out last weekend but never got around to it. Picture doesn't really do it justice because it was hard to get a shot of it in google earth.

This is the one rob was talking about I think. Looks ridiculously fast.

I'll let the picture do the talking here.

I have not scoped any of these out yet so some of these might be a bust, but even if only a few of these are skatable i will be happy.

Note: all of these hills are about as gnarly as it gets in the area so I won't be posting the locations of these so people don't die. Come skate with me and ye shall receive (or pm me and I might hook it up depending on who you are)

#1 isn't paved (I think worldrdr said so), or it's gated. there's some reason you can't skate it, either way.
#2 has too much traffic. I have a video of me neutral-bombing it in my volvo somewhere, it's right near a friend of mine's house. it's steep and longish, but you will get killed. it's the main road over that mountain, from new city into.. nyack? there's some stuff a couple of blocks from there that IS rideable though, including a fun hillside community (look up.. oakley st? i think. I rode there last summer and had a blast)
3 and 4 look nice. 5 is definitely storm king... been told by a luge pilot that lived in harriman that it's gnarly, and driving it is a lot of fun. so probably a good time (and yes, it's fast).
that last one looks familiar... i think it's a dirt road, or military property. but i could be very wrong.

Storm King...the name alone gushes of gnar, manliness, and badassery.

The Storm King Highway has a sick view of the Hudson river all the way down too.

I met up with nick and did a few runs in the ridiculous heat today before the rain moved in. After we went our separate ways I went and scoped out some other spots... turns out the two really nice roads that I really wanted to skate are on West Point property so you need a military ID to get in....but the roads are sooo well paved, beautiful black top. Now onto Storm King...it's f-cking gnarly.... I neutral bombed it both ways in my car and hit low to mid 70s both times while still braking.... the pavement isn't top notch but as long as you stay in the middle of your lane it should be fine... this is definitely a 6 am run though... decent amount of traffic, though speed limit is 45 so we'd be going faster than cars anyways. Leathers, experience, and balls of steel are required to hit this... that said, I plan to sometime soon.

yes, but theres a median you'd hit first too, then the oncoming cars, so i don't the fall would be that bad. Has a hell of a nice view too.

as in, is it worth make the trip from pa? or is it worth the danger of skating it? To answer both, if you like skating incredibly fast then yes I think it's worth it.

in my experience a car in neutral will go about 5-10 mph faster than a skater will be able to so I'm guessing this is mid 60s....

just started to plan a maybe 2 day camp at Harriman. Just really to get away from all the city bs, and skate, hang out, take pics and whatever. I know a few people are interested/ would make the trip, so just throwing it out there to anyone who would be down.
