I'm flying up from New Orleans on July 28th and staying until July 30th. I planned this trip because I wanted to go to Yankee Stadium one last time before they close it at the end of the season. I'm going to be staying at the Howard Johnson on Queens Blvd. I wanted to see if any longboarders in the area wanted to go skate while I was in town. I'm not very familiar with the spots in the NYC so I was looking for people to show me around. If you want to skate just let me know. My friend Dainel M. might becoming with me also.
I'll be up in Munnsville, but maybe when I get back, I'd love to skate around.

Damnnnn, my house is about 10 blocks from that Howard Johnson hotel; you guys should definitely plan to come over to Woodside one night for a backyard cookout/BBQ when you're here; we'll take you over to the Brooklyn Banks, the Earthwing/Watchtower slide hill, and a few other spots around town. NYC is mostly a street skate city since it's pretty much flat everywhere in town, but longboarding at midnight down 42nd Street through Times Square is by far one of the most amazing experiences you'll have here. If you're into skating bowls, there are a few pretty good parks in the city (Owls Head in Brooklyn and 34th St Helipad Bowl), and the Stamford Skate Park in Connecticut is the best concrete park in the Northeast right now, but you might not have enough time. A lot of us will be coming back from the Munnsville downhill race that Monday morning but we should be back in the city by 3pm or so.
Feel free to give me a call when you're in town - 917.. 587.. 6675, and we'll get a crew of Earthwing peoples out to skate.
Dude that would be great. We might not be staying at that Howard Johnson because its gotten a little pricey but we'll definitely come see you anyway. I'll just give you a call when we get into town and then we can meet up.

It's official Daniel and I are coming to the Big Apple. We just bought our tickets tonight. We're going to be getting into town around 1:30 on the 28th and we've decided to stay at the Howard Johnson in Queens so we will definitely be down for the BBQ at Ned's house. I'm so freakin stoked to skate the NYC. I'm literally counting down the hours until we leave.

I actually checked myself and was going to recommend the Howard Johnson in Queens.
Can't wait to skate with you guys.

We're going to two games at Yankees stadium on Monday and Tuesday night. Our seats are in section 57 of the bleachers. Do you think we would have a problem bringing shortboards into the stadium?

i'm not sure, but i doubt they'll let you bring skateboards into the stadium for security reasons -- security is tight as #### as these games. check the Yankees site / ticket info -- there's probably information about what you can/can't bring into the stadium.
we'll have to meet up after one of the games and skate late night...

That sucks, now I don't know what we're going to do with our boards!
I'm totally down for some late night skating. I doubt we're gonna be getting much sleep while we're in town.

I'm definitely coming with him. This sounds like a blast, appreciate the local hospitality as well. I can't wait to skate the banks and watchtower. and the pools... we don't have a skatepark here really.

I'm 99percent sure you can't bring the boards in. Security is so tight, they can't trust you with bottle caps.

yeah, security at these games is ridiculously tight. At Shea Stadium (I'm Mets, not Yankees), they use metal detectors and security sometimes pat you down, so people here usually get those small 1/2 pint bottles of JD or Wild Turkey (with plastic caps) and hide them in their socks. there are huge trash cans next to the security line filled with stuff they've confiscated.
hopefully you guys will have no problems.
EDIT:here are the Security Rules posted on the site -- don't plan on bringing a backpack or you'll be throwing it away...
Due to increased security measures, in conjunction with Major League Baseball directives, the Yankees are instituting the following procedures: No backpacks, briefcases, attaché cases, coolers, glass or plastic bottles, cans, large purses, bags or video cameras will be permitted into the ballpark. You must leave these items in your vehicle before entering the ballpark.
No laptops are permitted into the stadium.
No items will be claim checked. You will be asked to return them to your vehicle.
Diaper bags, small children's backpacks, small women's purses & backpack purses will be permitted into the ballpark, but will be inspected at the entrance gates.
Re-entry will not be permitted. Once you enter the ballpark, you will not be permitted to leave and re-enter the facility. Please make sure you have everything you need with you before entering the ballpark.
Only vehicles dropping off or picking up disabled guests will be permitted curbside at the ballpark. No other vehicles are permitted curbside, nor will people be able to stand and wait with their vehicles.
Smoking is prohibited throughout the entire stadium.
This security screening process may lead to entry delays close to game time. The New York Yankees encourage fans to avoid the lines by arriving at the stadium early to enjoy pre-game in-stadium activities. Entry gates open 2 hours before the scheduled game time, seven days a week.
