Yes, but friday it might also rain, which would mean wet streets regardless.
I wish it wouldn't rain, but hey, who knows.

Re: broadway bomb
Don't expect much in terms of organization... and the "18 and over to race" thing is not even enforced. You just write down your name on a simple sign-up sheet that gets passed around, and then you start racing at the drop of a dime, no start lines, nothing... just totally outlaw, random, and craziness at its finest. The sign up sheet is basically used to call out the names of the top 10 or so racers... and thats how it goes down. If you are under 18 and want to race... come and have a good time. We all skate on our own merit, and if you get hit by a car, you are screwed. No need for pads, just wear a helmet. ... AND THATS HOW IT GOES DOWN.
For anyone not used to the layout of Broadway... All the streets in NYC run North to South. Broadway runs diagonal. The most tricky intersection being Times Square, which is a big "X" layout. Make sure you stick to the left of the "X" and you'll be fine. Take a second and look at mapquest and see for yourself.

For a decent city skater, Broadway in the dry is no problem....in the rain....that's going to be INTENSE. Only the really crazy skaters are going to SURVIVE! IM GONNA DIE!

We're too hardcore to die
And I also hate that X intersection, there is also one in the upper 50's that is a weird intersection (I think).

Re: broadway bomb
Is there anyone doing the race who would be willing to let me crash at their NY place the night after the race?
I am from Oregon, and will be very lonely sleeping in an ally or a dumpster.
Look for MARSHALL at the race. I'll probably have the only LongBoardLarry board there!
PS. With the money I save staying with you and not in a hostel I'm sure there are several things I could buy to repay you for your east coast hospitality (PPS I am 21).
THAAAANKS!

At the BBQ after the race, just talk to people and I'm sure you'll get up with some one, just don't be a silent bob.

Re: broadway bomb
Guys and gals,
Damn I wish I could be racing, sliding, and partying with the crew this weekend, but I have a rare opportunity to stay for free at a beach house in Oregon this weekend (see attached pic! can ya dig it?), surf huge freezing shark-infested waves, and hit up Burnside skate park in Portland which has been a dream of mine for years.
I'll be with you guys in stoke. Hopefully I will comeback with some killer footage... and all of my appendages. And somebody take some of the slide contest please.

Dude, Oregon is seriously beautiful. For Maryhill, I was there for a week and a half, and your pictures look VERY familiar. I'm pretty sure i visited that second beach.
And yes, the water is freezing, shark infested on the other hand, I'm not too sure, but bring a wetsuit. I was acting like a tough guy expecting the water to be not that bad, but trust me, it's cold.8)
BTW, I also remember some INSANE runs there, a couple which make Maryhill look puny, and 2-3 miles long.

Re: broadway bomb
I've been checking the weather, and it looks like it's gonna be good.
There's a small chance of light showers on Thursday, but Fri, Sat, and Sun should be good days for skateboarding!
