The Watchung Reservation Session

It seems like a lot of you guys would be down for a session in the reservation. I've been scouting some hills and I like what I've found so far.

What are good dates for you guys? Sundays seem good because of the traffic and I was tossing around the 16th of November.

I skated sky top drive last spring and it was kinda fun. Sketchy pavement but I've heard that it's been redone and is now blacktop. Mid 30s on the shitty pavement, probably a bit faster now that its been repaved.

Theres a lot of hills around there off of 22. Lots of them have traffic and/or bad pavement and no runoff so if you choose to skate some of the gnarlier ones, please be sure you can control your speed because a mistake could be deadly. I skated some of these roads after i got off work (i used to work in somerset) and quickly learned how to pendy in the width of one lane because for some of these hills it is necessary to be able to stop on a dime. I dont remember all the names of the runs but I'll look through google maps and will point out some roads for you guys to check out.

There was one run that had a fast sweeping hairpin left that would rocket you into the steep straight into a really fast right corner at the bottom that required lots of slowing down to make. Awesome little run, really fast and really technical. Just be sure to stay in your damn lane.

These hills are pretty gnar with traffic and such, so if you're gonna come out definitely know how to slide/footbreak. As long as you stay in your lane as Pat S said you will be fine.

Rayzor: Look at Skytop Dr in Scotch Plains NJ.

GravityRider: These hills are at least mid 30 mph. There's one thats probably 45 but no one I know has skated it yet due to traffic.

All: Is the 16th good for you?

Edit We will also be hitting another mellow hill for those who are a bit intimidated and as a warm up. It's gonna be tight though because once I have had the cops come, but hopefully it will be cool.

I probably can't go b/c of (mostly because of) track and the fact that I don't want to risk skating in traffic anywhere near 40, i'm not experienced enough (and i'm a bitch).

Don't be intimidated by the traffic factor, its really non existent on Sundays anyway, but if you got stuff to do then thats cool too.

Man, I skated all those hills in the area (and beyond) with my buddies up until a few years back. We used to bomb the reservation as a cooldown on the way back to Cranford after a session. Lot's of good stuff nearby. And that was before they paved the reservation.
