longboarding in new york/long island
I own a sector 9 pintail and I'm vacationing in new york next week. I'll be staying in long island but will probably be going into the city a bunch. just wondering if there's anything new york has to offer for the longboarder. any good carving/bombing runs? will it be too crowded in the city to skate from place to place? can you bring your longboard on the subway? anything else to skate?

Re: longboarding in new york/long island
My buddy Jeff posted the following message on the NCDSA site which should give you a headsstart on boardin' New York. Starting soon you will be able to Search/Submit runs and locations for the US, Canada, and Europe. Visit longboardmaps.com for more info, to submit runs and to contact Jeff. Be sure to return soon, site should be up in mid June but were ready to insert your runs in our maps - so spread the word and let us know about those rides!
Keep on riding, peace Robin
"If you're looking for hills in NYC, here's the deal. 136th and Amsterdam up in Harlem: It's 4 lanes at about 5 degree decline...nice for carvin. Overlook Terrace in Morningside Heights (190s on the northwestern tip of manhattan): It's a local favorite up there...about 6 degrees and kinda narrow, so buckle up...you can ride down to 184th-ish and take elevator rides back up to the top of the hill. Last but not least, Snake Hill (aka Fort George Hill): 200th Street...about 6 degrees and wide-wide...very aggressive traffic coming up the hill, so watch your ass. Send me an email if you wanna ride with us...we go out about once a week...i'm at jgaites@yahoo.com. Peace. "
