Broadway Bomb
I'm getting really stoked for the Broadway Bomb coming up this weekend (Sat. Oct.19th, noon) in New York. 7 miles straight through traffic from 110th Street down to the bull near Wallstreet! This event will be crazy and I can't wait for it to come!!!
I'll be using my Flexdex 42 with 70mm Krypto's n' Bones and was wondering with what set up you out there planning to come will use. Has anybody actually tried out the full distance?
Word is out that a team of 20 cameramen will film the event to make a documentary of it and Red Bull is sponsoring a small after party (simple).
This will definitely be an event nobody should miss and I am surprised how little was said about it here on the site.
hope to see lots of you there,
peace

travel
Many of us would like to be there, but find travel arrangements and cost prohibitive. Maybe you could take some pix and submit them for the gallery.?

Cruise for all of us, youse guys. Sounds like a blast.
I work with a former NYC bike messenger-turned-EMT, and he agreed that the ride would be sweet.

bomb
110th street and broadway (west side of the park) at noon.
just got back from seeing the Supersuckers (greatest rock band EVER!) at knitting factory and let me warn y'all - broadway is CHEWED up for a block north and a half block south of canal. be careful. may have to hop the sidewalk in that section.

i survived!
ok - just got back from the 8mile nyc broadway bomb 2002 from 110 st to the bull at the end of broadway. ok - first things first: there ain't NO DOWN in "down broadway"! more uphill than down, but still awesome - fresh tar and downhill from houston street to canal! about 20 skaters with all sorts of rigs - lots of gravitys, my bozi, couple customs, sector 9s, 3 landy chiefs! Red Bull and Randall were in full effect and there were photographers all along the course. oh, did i mention this was outlaw and with traffic? all was well until we ran into the korean day parade at 41st street! some went thru, some went around.
they held traffic at the start - i can imagine the sight of 20 longboarders with whistles, helmets, cans of red bull just kicking as hard as possible thru a redlight and down broadway prob. caused people to notice...heh.
at the end of it - Aussi Richard on a custom board with a time of 34 minutes(!) touched the bull and won the randall trucks. beating the chase car, the chase motorcycle, people on the subway. 2nd was haggy with 35 minutes and 3rd was Ian, one of the organizers.
all in all, a great time and thanks to all the organizers, members of the NYC longboarders, red bull, randall and all those cops who kept screaming "get out of the parade!!" and to the German tourist who decided that looking thru the viewfinder of his video camera was MORE important than looking in the direction of traffic while crossing a street - sorry about almost taking you out and instead running up on the curb and do a flying bail into the gutter to avoid you.
cheers!
steve
(yes, jeff bozi - there is now blood on the hognose...i think it's mine)
yeah - this a crosspost from ncdsa.com, too tired to come up with more interesting text.LOL!
