I live in NYC not to far from central park. Now that the weather is getting nice, I am looking to find some people to ride with on a weekly basis.... I know there is a crew that hits up prospect park however thats a bit of a trek for me.
I prefer either the loop and or starting uptown and ending downtown... love surfing traffic.
I have a cigar by bustin, a Dervish and I just ordered the new striker from bustin, so if you do not have a board and still want to skate, I have no problem loaning you a board for the day!!
If there is any interest to try and get something going please let me know and I will provide you my cell number to arrange some times to skate.....

I should be coming back to the city soon (1 or 2 months?), but I'll save this thread, and drop you a pm when I do. I've got some pretty fun routes to run, complete with great culinary diversions. When I skate central park, I cruise up to 116th st. in Harlem and go to the seafood maket. Fried clams, oysters etc. and then cruise em off. Beautiful. Anyway, I'm sure you'll run into plenty of boarders up there. It gets bigger by the day. Good luck, and maybe I'll see you soon.

Would love to, however since the day I got stuck in the subway for about an hour, I have not ridden since. Seemed to have scarred me. Did not like feeling hoplessly confined with no way out....
I need to figure out how take the bus there........
If you try to take buses from Manhattan to Brooklyn you'll kill yourself. Learn to take the subway, its not that difficult if you can read a map, don't be overwhelmed by all the semi-attractive colors.

The park is a mix of flat, ups and downs with the fastest downs peaking at maybe 25mph? It's a fun curcuit though, and great for endurance training. There is a fun downhill section on the northeast side that gets you up to fun speed with a nice sweeper to cruise through. Check it out, and go clockwise once, then counter the other and see which way you like best.

I got robbed at knifepoint in a decent neighborhood. Get over the subway thing, whatever the issue is.
Funny thing was in '92 I was robbed on the g train, however that had no effect on me, and kept riding the subway for almost 15 years... I chose not to work to hard on this one since I have so many other options..(Like not going to brooklyn
Any who, my point of the thread was to nab local riders (in the city) to put together a riding sessions so again if any one is interested, let me know and I will arrange a time and place....

Did you try to jump out the window too?

And two 12 year old girls were molested by a thirty something guy behind my high school at 7pm in a rich white suburb. It happens.
I've taken the NYC subway countless times and had no troubles.

Wow, I had no Idea that me not riding the subway would raise so much attention.....
At the end of the day, there are sooo many options for me to get to BK that I don't have to get over the hate for the subway. That's why I live in NYC...(for the options it provides)
I would love to get a few cats together to start at central park and skate to prospect park... that's a great idea!!!
I live in Brooklyn but i work at 116th I wouldn't mind doing the Manhattan thing after work (*I finish at 5) let me know what your plan is so we can work something out

Re: NYC Skaters?
sorry but most longboard skateboarders i've ever seen in the city are losers who buy loadeds from paragon or blades(not that there is anything wrong with that). so i don't find it of no value skating with guys like that. so if you wan't to skate with quality over quantity come by the friday nite rip.
