Because you're one guy, you'd have to try really hard. Plus you're skating in Prospect, nobody gives a #### about that park (park ranger wise anyway).

Re: East Coast Slidejam/ Styles Showcase
only at prospect huh? funny, its all about how you carry yourself though, if even 1 person has a blatant disregard for the safety of others, im sure they would ask even that one person to move along, no matter the location.
to me this getting busted was an obvious call, one of the main reasons i dint attend, and also one of the main reasons i dont support outlaws
i see contests held in the park every weekend, it cant be that hard to get the permits, if thats your thing, you should see it through and not do it halfway so as to put a blight on longboarding in nyc

It was't that dangerous, NYC skating always involves traffic to some degree. You weren't there. In fact, I've only seen you once.
Happy skating.

On some real ####, I was intimidated by the traffic at first, but it made it so much sicker. You'd have 10 kids standing at the top of the hill waiting with cars flying up and then BAM break in traffic, everyone bombs it. Sick skating happened.

Re: East Coast Slidejam/ Styles Showcase
Its almost impossible to get permits in NYC. I don't believe they would even give permits out to skateboarders. If we were a music festival of some sort, than its a different story.

Re: East Coast Slidejam/ Styles Showcase
as matt said i can't see us ever getting permits to skate seeing as we're just a poor ragtag bunch of kids looking for a good skate. i met an older guy yesterday in the city and he told me that in 2003 or 2004 they held some sort of bank slalom competition in prospect and alot of pros were there including Tony Alva!! so i think we'd have to get more sponsors and be more reputable to organise something like that. i think that if it wasn't for all those outlaw skating that has been going on since the explosion of skateboarding you(speedfiend) wouldn't have a skateboard, nor a forum to be killing everyone's stoke on... now why can't you just let us skate and converse in peace.

Things happen in life for a reason, and because of the busting, we found an amazing spot. So maybe the bust was worth it.

Yeah I agree. Sometimes losing something is worth a greater value than a win. Yeah things didnt go as planed, but people did enjoy the path they wouldnt bother looking for if the park rangers didnt close us down and the last hill was major fun. So far that was the most enjoyable busted event that I ever attended.

hey dicknose thats what happens. skateboard is seen as an outlaw sport.
and last i heard can't doesn't mean won't. maybe you should stop diddling your coach and taking stupid meathead advice that'll get you nowhere in life.
now go bomb prospect in your sweats and see if you can break 5 mph.

Re: East Coast Slidejam/ Styles Showcase
chiming in late to thank brian for all his effort on this year's slide jam. so often these things go without thanks, so thanks man. and thanks to mike for the previous 2. i actually had a blast. got to slide on everything from a street deck, to an 80's board, to a 5 footer before we got shut down. glad i got there early.
nothing is more important than the sessions you get to throw down with your bros.
