    Default Tampere, Finland

I will be in Tampere soon. Any longboard store near the center of town? Somwhere close to Hameenkatu, or the University will be easy for me to walk to. Kiitos, Al

    Default Back from Finland

Got back recently. Saw no longboarders in Tampere, just 3 or 4 shortboarders. It is a nice community, lots of bike paths and city parks dying for a longboard.

    Hiya,

It is possible I might be moving to Helsinki (from London) for a while in a month or so. What is Longboarding scene like out there? Is there anywhere to skate during the winter (Carparks and the like)?. What about when the weather picks up? Any good hills? Should I bring my Downhill board?

    Sorry for so many questions.

    Cheers

Hi Jack, I am posting this from a Hotel in Kensington London.. but I live in Helsinki. The longboard scene has been quite active lately in Helsinki, but the weather is turning bad now. There are garages that we skate - but the most of the winter skating will happen in Kontula indoor skatepark. There is a Pool and a few mini's that are quite good for a 36"-40" board.

No need for the DH-board during the winter months. Log in and post here http://kallio.org/longboard/ when you are coming. The conversations on the forum are in finnish, but everyone speaks english too.. This is the place where we set up all the sessions.

Here are some links to Finnish LB sites:

Check out the video HelsinginVoimaliukujat.mov to get an idea what is IN at the moment All the pictures and movies on that site are from the last 3 months in Helsinki area.

Uargh... I am going back tomorrow, but I am visiting London several times a year, so now that I "know" someone who longboards in London, I will bring my gear with me next time.

    What is Crystal Palace?

Crystal Palace is a place in South London. (About 15 mins out of Victoria station) It has a really nice park to skate in, some hills to bomb and a fair few people skating there.

There are a few people on this board who skate down there (Curb and myself being the ones that spring to mind).

If you want to go for a skate and don't want to bother bringing a board across, drop me an email before hand and I'll see If I can sort something out for you.

Cool... I'll let you know when I come back here. When you come to Helsinki, place a post at the http://kallio.org/longboard/ and let us know.
