Pdx Downhill, Rip City Skates, and the town of Cathlamet, WA are proud to announce the Cathlamet Downhill Corral. This is a two day longboard festival held August 29th and 30th 2009. The events include a push race and slalom race on Saturday and then the downhill race on Sunday. The push race will be a 7 mile course on Puget Island right next to Cathlamet. The slalom race will feature a course set up by Skip Marcotte, an open, flowing hybrid with a course that is challenging for all and fast for the speedy. We will have the dual CSA start ramps that we used for the World Championships and tape switch timers. The Slalom race will be held on River St. at Broadway and Front St. The surface is maybe a 7+/10 with a pretty mellow grade. Prizes for all Jr racers, Trophies for top 3 Open racers.
The downhill race will take place through downtown all day Sunday and the course (chosen by Billy Meiners, Casey Morrow and Jon Huey) is very similar to Kimberly, BC's Sullivan Challenge. It is slow to start off but then gets steep and technical very quickly. There will be a $500 cash prize (donated by Rip City Skates) for 1st place and custom boards for the podium donated by Rayne. This is the first race of it's kind in Cathlamet, Washington. So show up, throw down, and see if you have what it takes to be the Cathlamet Champion!
Full Face Helmet, Leathers or full pads required.
