ok i am getting new shoes and i am wondering if addidas sambas are as good as any other skate shoe like nike sb or 6.0s for long boarding if there is a good shoe in particular tell me
I don't have a problem with skating in Adidas, which is the only name brand I like. That includes: cologne, watches, hats, gym shorts, shoes, deodorant, flip-flops, body wash, and logo T-shirts.
Search tool next time. There was an entire thread dedicated to shoes. Adidas sambas came up because... I have a pair and skate often in them.
Think, search and think again before posting questions with, to some, obvious answers.
You can skate in any shoe. There are no official longboarding shoes.
EDIT: I need some new shoes... or at least some tire treads. I'm wearing holes in my soles. Har har! A rhyme.

help apprecieated
I would highly recommend a skate specific shoe. Get a flat sole shoe with some grippy soles. Personally think my shoes are the most important piece of gear I use. The right shoe will help with board feel, durability and grip. I ride and can recommend Circas. The Ipaths I bought first wore out in a week and I exchanged them. Sambas are a little light in the padding if you really pound when pushing.
Hope that helps.
good luck
longboarding specific shoes?! why are they not on my feet right now?!
anyways i wouldnt recommend circas.i had some circa hightops a while ago and the soles got completely torn up by footbraking.too bad i learned to slide after they started making holes in my socks id also like to know whether nike 6.0s are any good, keeping in mind that i brake alot commuting around the city.

Re: longboard shoes
lakais have been treating me well. having leather shoes is just like having leathers for your body, but for your feet!
soles are just like any other rubber, but does well at lower speeds for breaking (meaning it holds together).
higher speeds will wear it down faster (obviously).
wear a comfortable shoe that gives you a responsive feeling and it becomes a mutual relationship between your feet (shoes) and the control of your board on the ground.
high tops give support but forfeits maneuverability, lower cut shoes forfeit support but let you get your extra lean on with your feet flat as boards.
as is pretty common in this sport, personal preference prevails.
try adidas or pumas for small, responsive leather shoes (can be expensive). any old skate shoe will do the trick though (vans, dvs, osiris, lakai, lol airwalk :P). check out your local ross, goodwill, st. vincent de paul, or salvation army. one mans trash is another longboarders treasure
I repaired these with Shoe Goo and painted them with hammered black metal paint and neon green. Then got new laces.
These shoes were worn the #### out. Toes showing, stitching came un-done, and nearly all my friends and family suggested I throw them away.
I brought these shoes back to life.
NOTE: Took one night to fix... I made some new slide gloves and cut my hair while I wanted for glue/paint to dry.

Their return policy sucks ass, but if you know what size you are you'll be fine.
When I ordered from them they sent me shoes like 5 sizes too small and I told them and they sent my new shoes out before I even shipped the wrong ones back and paid for shipping both ways. I was very surprised.
