Smile Northwest / Seattle - distance longboarding sessions

Just starting a thread to announce and hook up on distance sessions around the Seattle area -- and beyond! A few of us get together and ride most dry weekends, not always at hardcore 'race' pace, more of a chill-out flatland cruise.

Got about three extra LDPs set up at any given time, so you're always welcome to try these out if you're still figuring out how to dial a pumpin machine in, and on Saturday or Sunday mornings, we'll usually be riding flatland bike trails like Burke Gilman, Centennial Trail in Snohomish, Cedar River trail in Renton, the Interurban, or Green Lake loop -- and always lookin for something new.

This fall and winter we'll be doing a lot of GPS-clocked "Cyber Miles" on either the Interurban or Centennial trail. These sessions are best of both worlds because we can just chill and ride out to a specific place as a group, then any Speed Freaks can go balls-out for a couple 'personal best' timed miles.

Check back to this thread for whats coming up next -- and drop a line whenever you're jonesin to get out!

From Cascades message board: " 3/2/06: Cascade's event, the RSVP, is sold out. There are still spots open on the STP in July."

Drop a line if you're thinkin about the Seattle to Portland -- 9000 slots total on that one ($75) but they usually sell out by spring or early summer!

Any "LDP Training" involved??? Not exactly a regimented schedule... but a buddy and I have been doing weekday 12-milers from Fremont to North Seattle on the Burke most dry days -- around 3:30 / 4 p.m.. The pace is chill, and the days are getting warmer...all you need's 4 wheels, and an mp3...

myrtle edward trail i think? long... not so much, but its a fun little ride while waiting for the next ferry. its like a mile and a half (one way) of pretty decent pavement with little rolling hills. i think thats where the sculpture park is too. wheres the info on the fremont thing? i cant find anything on it.

ssg, do you still suck at pumping (or in your case, skating in general)? next time were in sea-townizzle, well bring proper pumpers to help shorten your learning curve, after the doughnut run of course.

Let's all meet up at Greenlake sometime and play! Forecast is calling for rain this weekend, but who can tell around here?

shaner-- i've found pumpin in the rain's do-able, just can't really cut loose-- I usually break out the push boards for wet commutes. the lathed wheels really help though, i had some 'xtreme' rain wheels and now i'm thinking about groovin some hotspots...

always dig the lake pumps, if it lets up a bit, this Sat would be cool. noontime weekdays kinda tricky (being a corporate cog) but i'll definately hook up after 4pm. --you will dig the lake sherpa!

hmm.. "pineapple express" rain coming from Hawaii?! - good weekend to work on setups in the garage i suppose

ileigh, this is the Fremont Fair link, it'll update as the event comes together. the sunday morning skate event is planned separately from the Fair, but I'll keep that info up on pavedwave soon as I hear about it-

I'm going to do a few laps around G-Lake tomorrow at 2:00 if anyone's interested. Thursday looks even better according to the forecast. Partly sunny.

I discovered another path up in North Seattle today too. I haven't ridden it, but it looks nice and wide and there wasn't anyone there today at all when I scoped it. I gotta work on my pumping, and it looks like a great place to work on it, so maybe you guys can give me some tips!

Weds is actually easier for me this week (if it doesnt rain) - does that work sherpa?

i'll be riding the Burke north any other dry day, in case you want to meet at fremont bridge about 4 p.m. -- old-skooler Patrick and I've been hitting that ride couple times a week...

Fremont Bridge for some Burke-Gilman on Wednesday sounds good. I'd like to do a story on pumping. I'd shoot some video and get some quotes if you're down.

Shane, I can ride with you on Thursday at 4:30. Greenlake or wherever. Here's my cell digits: 206 351-2505. Blow me up when you head out.

I'm going to go for a scoot at G-Lake right now! Streets are bone dry. 8)
