So where are the really nice bike paths in the Pacific Northwest? I do a fair amount of traveling for my job so its nice to know where I can find a nice path.
Apparently, here in Cannon Beach, there is a serious plan in the works to build a bike path from the north end of town all the way to Tolovana. Part of the trail would even go right past Haystack rock and have ocean views. Hard to say if it will be "open" for skateboarding but one can always hope.
what kind of bike do you have? i have a mountain bike to any place that doesnt have dense vegitation is a bike path in my book. sometimes i make an acception.

I am sorry, I wasn't clear. I am looking for bike paths that you can ride a longboard on. I am taking a short vacation in July at Black Butte Ranch and I was looking forward to longboarding on their miles of bike paths. Unfortunately, their website says "skateboards are prohibited everywhere in Black Butte Ranch".
So, I am hoping to find other areas with nice paths that do allow skateboarding.
Hemlock? Hemlock is fine. I commute on it every day. Part of Hemlock goes through a business district and skateboarding is prohibited there.
I just got back from riding the Samamish River Trail. There is the Burke Gilman Trail as well. Tons of other bike paths up here, but those are the only ones I've ridden. Well plus the path around Green Lake, but that is much of a commuter path.
I've never heard of a publich bike path prohibiting skateboarding.
In the Spokane area we have the Centenial trail whic has 40 miles in Wshington then another 60 or so to just a couple of mile short of the Idaho/Montana border. There is also a 40 or so mile spur from this trail. skateboards ARE allowed. There are a lot of different terrain on this trail from flat with winds (why does it always seem to be a headwind in both directions?)
We have the Foothills Trail that goes from Puyallup to Orting to South Prairie, and is going to be expanded into buckley. It's about 15 miles of flat pavement.
Man, Black Butte won't strictly enforce that rule if you ride your longboard "smart!" If you can footbrake then you have just as much right to use that trail as a bicycle! Signs be dammed!

Bring your deck if you are ever in the area
i really want to hit Centennial up soon -- seems like it would be a great place for one of our long skates because its 1,000 times drier over there.
i've been working on a list of NW trails and just moved it over to this forum, more to come over the summer-- always looking for feedback and to get out and ride something new, now that I know every crack and loose pebble in the Burke Gilman...
If you ever want to set a long skate over here be sure to let me know. I am sure we could set up something. If you start near the ID/MT border there is a 7 mile downhill, not too fast but you do not have to push.

The Cedar river trail is a nice one. It goes from Maple Valley to downtown Renton. My friends and I roll it all the time. If yer around Renton let me know and we'll try and meet up with ya.
