Is there any sessions in portland that are on a regular basis? wondering because i've just started longboarding and want to get better and skate with other people.

Show up at Mt. Tabor on Wednesday afternoon, and wear a helmet!
There is a regular session on wednesdays at Mt Tabor all day, and a couple others (zoobomb, belmont/stark) as well. You have two excellent resources to check out: eastsidelongboards.com, and pdxdownhill.com. Eastside has some great how to vids and hill locations, as well as a forum. Either one will help you connect with local boarders who will be happy to help you out. And a lot of the guys from Salem can be found there as well. There is a big race weekend coming up, saturday 26th in Salem, and Sunday 27th in NW Portland.
Hope that helps!
i can make it on wednesday afternoons but only till 4. What time do you guys start? And does eastside still do runs on belmont on tuesdays? thats good though because i only live about 1.5 from Tabor.
do i just need a helmet, or slide gloves as well? I've literally just started a couple days ago.
okay i can make slide gloves, but no knee pads. are slide gloves easy to use?
I'll get over there at 10 or 11, or is that too early? and where do you meet?
There is a parking area toward the top of the hill, and you should see guys coming and going. Again, you might want to post on a local forum and ask when and where exactly you can meet someone. Slide gloves are easy, pads not needed so much for mellow rides or when you are more experienced. While pads are cumbersome, they do allow for more confidence and ambition. Next you'll be asking where to get leathers!

Being helmet-less is considered un-cool because it is an important piece of equipment that can save your like. A bicycle helmet will be OK.
You need gloves only if you are going to sllde. Just show up and hang out at the bottom of Run 1 (see the map on the Eastside site) and you can see and find out about all the other stuff.
I'm over in Aloha/Beaverton, trek into Portland all the time. I would be more than willing to catch up with you sometime. Hell, I could even give you a crash course on how to get started much faster. lol.
