2009 Swap Meet??

Hey everyone in the NW!

I am trying gage the interest in organizing a Portland area swap meet this year, sometime in June (to increase our chance of good weather). We had a little one here at the shop last year that was well received but I was considering having it at Tabor or some place that we could actually ride too. I am willing to coordinate the picnic space rental at Mt. Tabor or possibly in the field next to Glenhaven skate park (there is a small longboarding hill through the golf course that is no too far from there to appeal to the longboarding fans too).

So here is what I want to know:

1. Interested in a skateboard/longboard equipment swap meet in the Portland area? or not really?
2. Where would you like / what kind of format?
3. What dates - Saturday or Sunday would work best.
4. Do you want to help at the event? (most of us have to stay at the shop on at Saturday since it is open for business so I would need some volunteers to help pull off the event)

Also - just an FYI for local events - the Landyachtz Longboarding Team is going to be visiting Portland and swinging through Daddies Board Shop to stoke the local longboarding scene. Come to the shop April 18th at Noon and talk boards, hills and more. I am sure they will want to hit some local hills shortly thereafter. I hope they bring some Landyachtz goodies to give away as well. I will find out more next week.

Later that same day, 2:30pm the street across from Daddies will be closed for a local community event and they have invited us to set up a slalom course to entertain the crowds for about 30minutes or 1 hour. Feel free to show up to weave the cones and enjoy the food/drink & music.

Both of these events are also on the Silverfish calendar for April 18th.

I am looking into Saturday August 1st right in the grass around Glenhaven skatepark in NE Portland. I am working on the Special Use Permit etc. Let me know what you think.
