So my friends and I have been playing this for about a year, and are hoping to find more people in the area that have the skill and desire to be part of an AWESOME game/sport. Here's the pitch! (Sorry, copied off my ad on CL)
Alright, well I'm advertising looking for like-minded Bellingham people for a new 'sport' I'm trying to organize. A few of my buddies and I came up with the concept last summer and even though there were only four of us, we had a pretty good time.
Basically, Longboarding and Ultimate Frisbee are two activities pretty popular here in the B'ham, so we came up with a game combining the two. Essentially, the game is played on a long narrow court, four per side. It follows the basic rules of Ultimate Frisbee, whereas one team has to pass the disk among eachother to get to the opposing side. The catch though, is that it's played while longboarding. Players can kick to gain speed, but once they've caught the disc or it's been turned over to them, they have to stop kicking until they pass it. That's the jist, we have a whole set of rules to keep it even. The game can get a bit rough, and as with anything having to do with skating some roughed up elbows and knees are pretty much iminent.
The games funner then hell, and we played almost every night for months, and now that summer is due, we're looking to find a few more guys (or teams) looking to meet up and play. The games are played at night, in lit up areas, I'd say where but I don't want the party to get ended before it's even begun ; )
So if you're interested, reply to this ad or email FrisboardBHam@hotmail.com. What will work best (since this is a completely new game to everyone), is if my team and you (or you and your friends/team) met up, we could explain the rules, and then play. Just a practice game, so you can understand the game, and can start practicing in your own time. Then at that point, after a few teams know what they're doing, I can organize a tournament, maybe get trophies, hell who knows.
This is an awesome game and an awesome opportunity. Anyone that can skate that likes new challenges should reply because this is a good time
Anyways, anyone on here interested?? It really is an awesome game and gets your adrenaline flowing. Plus it's played at night under lights, on an EXTREMELY smooth surface. Very ideal ; )
What do you guys think???
