Re: Old skool skateboards?!?!
How about some info on what you are going to use it for? Pools and parks, cruising, other? If you are thinking pools and parks (this forum) your truck width will be determined by board width and wheels - side, offset or center set. But if you are going to be in the 9+ (in) range, think 149 or 169 (mm). I think my wb is 21 or so, but some like 15.(in)
That will have a huge impact on what the right answers will be.
Skate 'em if you got 'em,

Re: Old skool skateboards?!?!
Check out the mini's from GFH Boards. Same old school shape and the 3" trucks that were used during the 70's but for a reasonable price.

Check out the completes at tailtap.com for some good ideas on old school set-ups. The Dogtown Bulldog is my personal favorite...I rode it back in the day and still ride it today!

Re: Old skool skateboards?!?!
Bryant Cooper Longboards Flounder is a nice old school shaped park/pool/commuting board! Made of bamboo and is extremely light and agile. It comes with tracker RTS 149's, throw on some 60mm ABEC 11 no skoolz, or Retro InvertZ you got yourself a nice pool setup!

Re: Old skool skateboards?!?!
are you thinking 70's old skool or 80's old skool. because they are very different. if your thinking 70's old skool check out dogtown boards and Alva boards.
if your thinking 80's old skool look at some hosoi, santa cruz, or powell boards.
trucks: indy 215's or 169's
wheels: think around 60mm wheels or bigger but not bigger than 70mm. check out powell wheels, and bullet oldskool wheels. santa cruz and all them have a big selection of old skool stuff

There's still even a huge difference between '75, and '77, and '80, and later...

Re: Old skool skateboards?!?!
skateboards evolved for a reason
best of both worlds in my opinion, would be a misc 9x33 squaretail punkpoint with indy 169's, hardest 60mm wheels you can get and modern concave. pool stinger shapes are stylin as well.
black label, 5 points, deckcrafters, poolking, funhouse etc all make good decks for this purpose

Re: Old skool skateboards?!?!
well most of the 70's boards are thinner than the 80's. and most of them come to a point on the nose. some have kick tails, and some don't. (i sudjest a kicktail)
the 80's boards are more of a fat shape, mostly for pool riding and vert. im talkin' like 9-10.5" width. thats why the indy 215's and 169's are good.
i have a 77' re-issue alva board tahts just flat with a kick and its a slim shape and its preddy cool.

A lot of late 70s boards were wider than most 80s boards.
The 70s boards you're describing are from the early to mid 70s. By late 78, most boards were at least 10" wide (and some were 11"-12"), with blunt noses and wide tails...

90's decks were 7-7.5 inches wide. Now there are more selections of wider decks available and different wheelbase too. People demand it. Small flippy decks were kind of control by the ' Street industries'. Skateboard wheels come in different sizes now . So skating is still changing.
