6 ft. to 4 ft. drop in
I was at the park today, and I finally dropped in on the 6ft. I did this for a while, maybe an hour, and before I was about to leave I decided to go ride the 4 ft. mini ramp for a few runs. Now, I have been skating the mini ramp for a couple months and have had no trouble dropping in on it for quite some time. But after the 6 ft., I fell straight forward, and then my second attempt was real sketchy.
Now, I've only been skating at the park about 3 months. And I know it takes a long time to get comfortable and build skill, I'm really in no hurry, because it's fun and new anyway.
But all I wanted to know is if this has happened to anyone else?

I haven't fallen on a drop-in since I learned how to do it.

Re: 6 ft. to 4 ft. drop in
I can feel awkward on some of the really small (like 2') pre-cast concrete ramps but I think it is because the lips tend to be rounded and the lack of transition just makes it feel weird.

Re: 6 ft. to 4 ft. drop in
this happens, because you sub-consciencelly set your brain for the mechanics it takes to successfully drop in at six feet. If you switch it up, i.e. drop in at different heights everytime you do it, that will help 'reset' your brain. This happens because you focused on six feet for what, an hour you say? That'll ingrain it into your mind. Like I said, switch it up.

Re: 6 ft. to 4 ft. drop in
I think that height has littler to do with dropping in then with what the transition is like. The mechanics of dropping in on something that is vert is different then a mellow mini ramp. I'm not sure (this is where someone else chimes in) but my limited experence of dropping in on vert is that you almost have to lean back slightly or pump with the tailside foot more.

Re: 6 ft. to 4 ft. drop in
I dropped in the first time I skated at a skatepark, haven't fallen since (but I have crashed into things/people following the drop in.) Took me over a year to learn how to ollie though.
Just remember to lean then stomp, not both at the same time, and definitely not vice versa. And maybe tighten your trucks a bit to get used to the transition.

ye, if u are going to drop in higher than u do usually tighten your truck a little bit. I didnt tightened mines and got some kind of speedwobble and almost faceplanted
Most fishes swim in schools, but mine swims in pools.
