    Default Park Longboarding

Hello, I've got this question on my mind I truely can't resolve on my own, so after a long time lurking the silverfish forum I've decided to call in reinforcements.
At this moment I've got a 42" Wedge sector 9 longboard which I love to use for easy cruising and bombing the 3 hills we have here back in the flat north of belgium.
Ive recently started skating in a park with my longboard, and its great, I don't need to push alot to match the speed of fellow skaters who skate the bowls far longer then I do

But heres the catch. The board is 42" inch with a long tail. And I really can't get it to do anything else then riding in the bowl.I'd like to be able to try some tricks on the coping, but I fear my deck now will not suffice.

Ive been looking at the Sector 9 channel 9 cause it seems to have a nose and a tail which makes ollies and dropping alot easier. They also have the Deep End Angler which is just a really long streetdeck? Also the gravity Brad Edwards pro looks like a winner.I really can't make up my mind what I should do.Anyone got any suggestions?I'd really like to keep the speed and flow of my wedge but have more versatility to do some street tricks to,and maybe even be able to drop in the really steep backyard we have here.

    Bro...
I started on a sector 9 deep end and it was rad, a guy I knew at that time rode the channel 9 shape and loved it,one of my best buds still rides the deep end.
But here's where it's really at... the Gravity Brad Edwards 40". I bought my first one the other day and have already got ollie impossibles, 360flips, big flips, huge ollies and wallrides. This board is so baddass. It feels as light and responsive to flip tricks as a short board but is built for those of us who livicate ourselves to longboards. My opinion...definately go with the Brad Edwards. I'll be posting a video of the last few days riding it, in a few days once it is edited. Look up the vid under kevseadog on youtube late next week and decide for yourself if it looks like a good board. Keep skating, and pm me if you've got questions about the board or learning tricks. Peace.

Thanks dude, I visited your youtube and saw Gravity Skateboards - Flow - Brad Edwards - Ch. 18. And honestly, I'm sold, if this guy wanted a deck like the gravity one I'm sure I will like it to. Thanks for you opinion!

Dude pretty much most of the Gravity line you can skate in a park. Whenever I decide to break out my long decks in parks I reach for my Gravity's. The Mini Carves and carve 39's are also shredders.

    Gravity Skateboards, Longboards for Skateboarders.

ps. Im not affiliated with Gravity at all

i don't know how much money you'd be willing to fork up but the loaded fish looks pretty sick for skating parks. i have never tried it though (so don't hold me to it!) if i had enough cash on me i'd probably buy this deck. there are some videos on youtube of loaded skaters riding the deck, Kyle Chin is really good. i'm pretty sure loaded stopped making this board but i found it on this site just in case you're interested SolidSkate.com - original online longboard skateboards

You are right Cirquedaddy, I'm fully confident that gravity will fulfil my needs.

Mattspiff, I thought about it a second but I'd lose that tail in a day.

i think the loaded fish has too muck flex and too big cutouts too ride it in parks. look at the gravity carve series, minicarve, jp38, be40. they own in parks and ditches.
Most fishes swim in schools, but mine swims in pools.

If you're thinking about going with gravity, here is my experience with their decks. In high school I skated the pool 36" popsicle until I snapped the tail off. Great deck, really fun at a park or in the street. Just this weekend I setup my new jp38 and took it to the park. My first impressions are as follows. looks a bit wierd from the top, almost like the nose is wider than the concave. Its a strange sensation. The tail is more square than I had thought when I placed my odrer. Also the nose and tail are not very steep. I set it up with indy 169, 56mm wheels, and reds. I took it to the park and rolled around for a bit skated the mini-ramp, slid some rails, and then took it to the pool. The size of this deck is really fun. It took very little time to get comfortable on the transition. I skated the pool for the rest of the session. My overall impression of the jp38 is that it is a pretty fun deck, but if it were me I'd round the tail a bit and shorten the nose, its way long. Also I'd like steeper nose/tail kicks, as well as stiffer nose and tail. The tail flexes under pressure which I don't like, and I'm not beefy(6'3"-185).
