do you nark on bmx'ers?

theres a lot of bmx guys at the free local skatepark, where bmx'ing is not allowed. the cops come sometimes and kick them out, but mostly they have the run of the place. the only problem i have with them is that its a wooden park, and the material doesn't hold up well against bike pegs and handle bars slamming into it. theres actually 5 or 6 places where holes are starting to form from repeated bmx abuse.

i hate cops but i love our skatepark, so my question is : should i contact the police station when i see these guys? not 911, just the local number. they're nice guys and most of them are very talented but our poor park can't take anymore

what do you do?

I like BMXrs. One dude that I met hes a real nice dude and he asked to ride a board one day when we were cruising down some hills. First time down, he was trying to bomb the hill as fast as he could. The hill is only like 30 mph, but thats pretty ballsy for the first time stepping on a board. After that I kind of have a newly found respect for BMXers. I'm sure they're probably cool dudes. If the park gets a little beat up, ride around the holes. Who cares? That'll just make you better. I'm sure they are just trying to have fun just like you. Just because they choose to ride a bike instead of a board doesn't mean they should have the police called on them. I'm not supposed to ride my board on campus, and I know that, so should people in cars call the police on me because every once in a while I'm riding next to them on the road? Don't be a f*cking douche and call the cops, just ride.

i like bmxrs too, but i like my skatepark more.

by holes, i mean theres at least one quarter pipe and one hip thats not usable by skateboard wheels. bike wheels can role over them, so they don't care but skateboard wheels cannot.

some things to keep in mind about this situation:

1) the county doesn't take care of our skatepark, the local skate shop owner does. the bmx dudes don't shop there, but the owner of the skate shop pays for the repairs out of his own pocket. ask yourself does this seem fair?

2) cops don't arrest bmx'rs when they do come, just send them along their way

Most bmx'ers are well dialed riders, who respect the skatepark.

The reason bikes are getting banned from parks is because of little kids throwing their bikes in and out of pools, bowls and other features...further damaging the park. It is not the place to nark on these kids, but to tell them to cut it out, and respect the park.

i don't give really care that they're not allowed there, if they didn't #### up the ramps i wouldn't care at all. when my skatepark isn't usable anymore because the ramps are in shreds, it will be very lame.

That last part was certainly unneeded. I was riding a local park in chino here and there was no bmx'ers there for a little while. But then, a gaggle of like 8 of them showed up and straight up took over the place, cutting people off, taking lines, yelling at people to get out of the way. These are the type of kids I would for sure narky nark on.
Back in the mitten, we had this beautiful 2,300 sq foot park built. Brand new nice crete. On our first day there, one biker showed up and was a really nice kid who respected everyone elses safety and such. He ended up being kicked out after a little while, and i did kinda feel bad. This is the type of kid i would not nark on, mainly because of his attitude and respect.

Its all relative really. If its a wood park getting destroyed, i would think a little more about it. But for crete, i would base it on the kids ability to share the park.

Often, they aren't. A common reply I've heard at various SoCal parks is "We have every right to be here" while the sign right behind them says "No Bikes".

Ramps, maybe. 'Crete? This was a park that hadn't even opened yet, that BMXers were barging. The coping had to be replaced before the park was able to be opened:

Seated in the background are two little kids, just beginners, who had to stop skating because they were scared of getting hit by the bikes. I pointed out to the bikers that it wasn't fair that those kids couldn't skate, because of someone who wasn't even allowed in the park, and all I got was attitude. Chino is notorious for that. BMXers can take lines there that are deadly to skaters, and I've seen several skaters get taken out by bikes that literally dropped in from out of nowhere on top of them. One of the funniest things I've ever seen there was one time, after a BMXer took out a little kid, Rockin' Ron told him they weren't welcome there. The guy started giving Ron the "We have every right to be here" bit, so Ron grabbed his bike and threw it over the fence. The kid blew up, and told Ron he was going to jail for that, and called the police. A few minutes later, the police showed up, and it was "So, you were riding your bikes in here? OK, sit down, and I'll need your names and addresses..." and began writing tickets...

While it is hard to skate a ramp covered with holes made by bmxers, it's equally as hard to ride a bike with two flat tires.
If there still willing to wreck your day after a polite but firm confrontation try wrecking their day.
Bmxers are a menace from chunking up concrete benches to blowing holes in wood parks, and this is far from the first time I've heard of this happening.
And it's sad that in a legitamate sport such as this the destructive and disrespectful riders over shadow the riders that use their heads.

I used to bmx, Till I got into speedboarding. My advice: Just leave them alone, If there really getting on your nerves, tell em to get some gsport plegs, plastic pegs, they dont damage the ramps. Besides, g sport makes hella good parts.

BMXers are gnarly, the real good ones.

I see them at the power inn skatepark (sacramento) everytime i go, they do some crazy ####.
i have alot of respect for them. sometimes they get in the way though and take up to much space at parks which gets annoying when i wanna go skate the bowl or the pipe
