Default Reverse kingpin trucks in the park

I have always rode them, slashs on paris trucks is a lot of fun. I love the way they carve bowls and feels like they flow more than indys for me.

Any one else feel this way?

what are some disadvanteges to reverse kingpin trucks?

Hmm.... Well Doors, I have to agree with you that reverses are a lot of fun. I myself also rock Paris trucks for bowlage. I think that the disadvantage would be that your kingpin is exposed and not protected by the hanger. While just mild slashes may not be effected, grinds and other lip-tricks would be more prone to catching the pin and causing some unwanted friction. Also I believe the reverse pin trucks would break easier from this very reason.

in my experience most reverse kingpin trucks are a lot heavier then indy-style trucks. So if your catching air and ollying it might feel strange, and going up for lip tricks like 5-0 grinds and nosegrinds might feel weird too trying to lift up the back end when its heavier.. nothing you can't get used to.
as mentioned above the kingpin is exposed so it'll get trashed a lot quicker. But if your just riding tranny stuff a reverse-kingpin truck will feel a lot smoother and less twitchy.

I've always been wanting to try a setup like that. I'm assuming your on the 150mm hangars. Whats the width of the deck your riding? Wheel and riser size? -Ian

What are some advantages of riding reverse kingpins? That's where the bolt of the truck is towards the inside of the board and not the outside right?

you're going to go through a lot of kingpins, and I hope you have a shop with a press to help you get your broken pins out. I can understand how it would create a more "surfy" feel, but for full time bowl trucks, I would suggest something else..

Brad Edwards seem to enjoy them, and has for many years.

reverse pin trucks for old school bowls and ditches all the way, anything with a soft lip, and no coping. indys for general park and newer bowls, they just feel so much more surfy on transitions.
Ride for the stoke, not for everyone else.

I would the ride height would be a downer, it's nice to have a nice low ride skating transitions. Never put my randalls on a regular board though.

I tried putting a randel on the front truck once but did not like it because it made the board uneven as the Randel was slightly higher. (I suppose you could find the right spacers to even it out). I like using angled risers to get the carvy surfy feel of a reverse kingpin truck. I angle the back truck in for stability and the front truck out for carvabilty.

For the past year or so I was riding six-tracks with teh back truck flat on a 1/4" riser and a 1/8" riser and Khiro rails to slightly kick the front truck for just a little of that feel. I like the way it rides smooth and when lean into your front foot you feel that extra turn, but I switched back to 2 flat risers last week as it does just the opposite of that when you ride fakie.

BE used to ride Randal front, Tracker rear a few years ago. His setup was pictured on the Gravity forum last year and it was all Darts.

Demonseed would be too big methinks but I rode my Mosquito all around Kona including the snake, J, and flow section and it was awesome! It didn't bottom out either which is good, but next time I go I'll probably ride my Libido with harder wheels (orange or orange+ zigs?).
