Is this a pivot 5-0 kickturn? see video
Been attempting pivot 5-0 kickturns on a mini ramp. This is what I have so far.
Is this a 5-0?
If not, please advise on how to correct it. Hoping to get the 5-0 down and take it to an eventual axle stall.
thanks

yes technically, but it would look better if you got the back wheels more level with one another

Got it! The coping is a bit weird on this ramp. I tried to get more up on the ramp. One of the wheel starts touching the top deck, making the whole turn really weird.
B.t.w, any tips for getting an axle stall down?

the ride in the video looks like a stock and standard backside grind to me.
My comments represent a selfishly one sided 1970's skateboarder mindset, and do not reflect the current fashion-skate-lifestyle industry's views.

You want to thrust your weight more up and on the deck of the ramp, rather than keeping your weight centered over the transition. Basically do a kickturn like you did in the video but instead of coming right back in, focus on stalling on top of the coping, instead of just pivoting on the inside. Keep your shoulders parallel to the coping once youre on top and then just drop in from there..Hope this helps somewhat, its way more difficult to explain than to actually do. Just practice it and it will click.

He didnt grind at all, therefore it was just a pivot.

when learning axle stalls on coping. it's my advice to begin with tail-lock so you learn all the motion and really feel the stall. once you have tail-lock axle stalls on lock, you can ease ever so slightly off tail and do true 5-0 stall.

That's good advice!

Re: Is this a pivot 5-0 kickturn? see video
Axle stalls are decently easy. I usually put my front foot over the front bolts and approach it at a decent speed. Try to kinda of get up on the coping, rather than touching it. Like the guy before me said, dont lean your weight back into the ramp like you were going to do a kick turn back down. It may take a few tries but you will get the feeling of of actually getting your truck up onto the coping eventually. Going faster doesnt hurt either. It will help propel you up a little more and if you lose balance, your more likely to fall onto the ramps deck instead of down it. Anyway, start your turn a little before your front trucks come off the coping. You dont need to raise your nose too much either. Just raise it a few inches and with enough speed you will just kind of ride into the axle stall. A common variation that might work for you is kind of making your turn early and powersliding your back truck into place. I should mention that on a coping like that, excess speed will result in an actual grind.
Just go for it. I tried to make that pretty specific but dont over think it. Its really just a 90* kick turn. Keep at it

No that is not. If anything that was a backside slash. If you wanna stand up a backside pivot do just that, stand it up. When your going up the tranny and you feel your back truck hit the coping stand up on you heel and stall it out.
Just watch the video.
