Default Pool King Chris Strople Ally Oop 1034

Been skatin parks and bowls recently, got a full on pool deck - Pool King Chris Strople Ally Oop 1034 from DenverSkateShop.com. Running Indy 169's on 59mm/85a Rainskates with super hard bushings. The board is stiff and fast, and has a bit of pop to it as well, the nose is basically perfect. I am gonna try some Krux 'the man' trucks on it to see if I can slow the turning response down even a bit more (I like tight trucks on small decks). Still postin thumbnails, just click to make em bigger.

Here is another pic, the concave is pretty flat in the middle with dip down foot wells just before the kicktails. The concave rises slightly at the edges which are rounded like a street deck. Its stiff and wide, so your feet stay well planted - I am glad the concave is not a lot deeper, its easy to ditch on this board when needed (deep concaves can be hard to ditch sometimes).

Maybe try some GrindKings.. Krux are great, but GK's are substantially lighter, and they're made to hit coping. Just a thought. Nice looking piece of plywood ya got there as well, looks like a ripper.

Put the Krux 'TheMan' trucks on the board today, kept the OEM bushings, and a new set of rainskate tsunami 59's. Took it to the park today, it was awesome - so stable, yet still turns as much as I need. This is the best park board set-up I have ever ridden.

I recently picked up the Pool King Retro Fish Dead Pirahna Deck...

Man this thing is a work of art; I set it up with Randal 180's and 62mm/85a rainskates Mid Tsunami's... It is a ditch destroyer! I skate pretty much ditch only (some great ones here in SA-TX); and this thing is a dream; it has an old school feel; but with a good amount of concave and a nose that is just right. Really lovin this set-up...

Pool King puts out a mean product- SOLID.

I do ride 100a wheels, ha ha ha. But, I also like the 85a's on some surfaces. Plus, your "advice" was packaged in a condecending wrapper of troll paper. It's all you say stuff, trust me I work for the man.

I've ridden many pools where using 100a wheels is just asking for bruises. Including some where even 85a is just barely grippy enough.

Besides, in many of those old classic shots of Alva and Adams they were on 85a wheels...

A father and son showed up this AM, they dropped in and could reach the top of every wall (but stopped short of coping tricks). The dad had like 65mm clear radiused gummies and the kid had some normal looking skatepark wheels, both decks looked like crap all splintered and trucks like 129-139. I think technique has way more to do with good bowl skating than wheel selection. I will concede that harder wheels go faster and allow fast sliding line changes if you get stuck on a kick turn or run out of speed at the top of the walls, but my 85a rainskates still have their place in the skatepark. I do have some 56mm bones SPF I will try next time, but I am pretty sure its me and not the wheels, maybe I will carry a little more speed with less pump but I will still be limited by my experience and abilities, not the wheels.

    agree.
good pumping technique often buys you more speed than you need.
its not often, but I do see good park riders on soft wheels..

a sector9 rider at last years tim brauch contest was on softies...

but the way soft wheels catch on mis-calculated kickturns scares me (the front wheels catches)

one of these days, i want to try soft in the back and hard in the front.
