Default Am i going to run into trouble.....

Am building myself a deck that i plan on using in the skatepark ramps/snakerun/bowls and have come to the choice for wheels...

As i am not a great skater on ramps or bowls i want my board to be able to be used just as comfortably on the flat/mellow hills...

At this stage i am going to buy some Tunnel Tarantulas 82a Amber wheels (70mm) and just wonder weather or not these will be suitable for use in the park/bowl.. im not into crazy technical tricks or anything just more riding smooth lines around the bowl and maybe small slides on the ramps in the skatepark..

This going to work or should i be looking at something else?

Thanks in advance everyone really appreciate advice (im a newb when it comes to park riding)..

noskoolz would be a better choice, 70mm would be a tad bit of an overkill on a pool board IMO. if you want soft wheels get a duro in the 80's, but for only pool/park get a duro in the 90's

But yeah, 70mm would probably be overkill, I like "Greek" wheels for park.

I realise that 70mm is overkill for bowl riding but i cant afford to have several decks for every kind of riding.... 70mm wheels will allow me to use the board for short commutes as well..

What is the big advantage having round lip wheels over square lipped wheels in bowl?

You can cruise comfortably on sub 70mm wheels. I ride rainskates 85a minitsunamis, pretty fun wheels and would work out ok for the park too. Round wheels make a big difference for me in the park because square wheels like to hang up on the coping if you ever want to hit a grind.

Im beginning to look into the retro freerides a bit more... The only thing i really dont like is a board that slides out really really easilly... Id much perfer a board that slides nicely when i push it to sliding not cause it wont hold its line cause it has no grip..

Another option im thinking is going with my original option being the tunnels and then radius the edges slightly myself..

I ride the red tunnel rocks in like, 92a or whatever, 62 mm. they are way wide, you think, yeah, side set wheel, bigger, no big deal, they are wide. i would suggest alligators, the green ones are great for slides and handle normal sidewalk/road conditions well. they are rather undurable though. and a more contemporary wheel with radiused edges will let you do standup slides a lot easier.

Basically tarantulas ok but better choices available.

Nothing bigger than 62mm. Bone SPF's or Rain Skates (Yellows and Greens) are excellent wheels for concrete and wood parks. The greens are a bit grippier. Bottom line, I see people skate just about everything at my park and I'll always say skate whatever make you smile.
