So i'm kind of new to the whole pool skating thing. i've been regular skateboarding for years and longboarding for a couple too. but i've never had a baord specifically for pools or ditches. i'd usually just use my skateboard.
so i decided i want to get a pool board. my choice is between a Blockhead Hardtimes deck and the Pocket Pistols Bardo Choptop deck.
i know im going to run indy 169's on either of them. but i have no idea for wheels.
the only thing i know for wheels is that OJ's seem to be popular and maybe some Powells.
any help?

I just started ditch and bowl skating using 60 mm abec11 no skoolz, 88a. Good "training wheels" for me because they are wide and grip well, but still pretty fast. Rainskates has an insane selection of pool wheels, many good choices.
If you are at all heavy, replace the bushings on your Indys with Bones medium. The stock bushings on Indys are really soft with very little rebound, at least for me. If those decks are 9 to 9.5 inch wide, they will work with 169's.

Yeah i know about all the bushing mods i need. i've been riding indys for years and i got it down to a science with those trucks. as for the wheels i have some no skools that i think are 83a or some thing around there. would those work? i'm sketchy about the grip though. for some reason they way i get into stalls is i slide into them. how would this effect me..

I don't know. Sounds like your No Skoolz are really broken in and slidy? They would probably work but if you are not sure, Rainskates look like they are engineered not to hang up on coping. Bones Ratbones also look pretty good for pools.

Please allow me to jump in here and second this.
I too am looking for a new set of Pool/park wheels (same thing) in about the same size (60mm).
I don't skate all that much (about once a week) and so wheels last me a long time however my current set are in need of replacement.
By the way my current wheels have been the best wheels I have ever ridden and I would highly recommend them.
The are Skaterbuilt Poolside favors.
But, like I said, I don't really skate enough to burn through wheels and am not really into buying several sets to find out which are best.
What I would like is for someone who really knows to chime in here and recommend there favorite park wheel and it would also be nice if one of you were familier with the Skaterbuilt wheels and could offer there opinion on those as compared to something else.
My thoughts on them are that they were very fast and had just the right amount of grip however their "magic" seemed to wear off quickly although that may just have been in my head or something else. Good wheels nonetheless.
P.S. I would not recommend the No Skools, especially in 88. (at least for park/pool). Too big and heavy and 88a is too soft. However I'll bet the Retro Invertz would be pretty good.
P.P.S. Please feel free to neg rep me if you don't like this. I have accumulated about 53 so far and on this site consider it a compliment. Thanks.
Rainskates mini-tsunami 59mm / 85a are my favorite. Run clean bearings and the wheels are plenty fast in a good smooth park for a beginner. 100a Rainskates are noticiably faster, but they slide out real easy. OJ's don't cut it in the park, they are too slow - great on streets, though. The 85a wheels have excellent grip, but wear quickly, and can chunk, but they are still my favorite.
So, I've been poking around on the "real" skateboard sites and have come to the conclusion that no one knows s**t. (a lot like here).
However, the Bones SPF come up a lot as being recommended but also the Abec 11 Retro Invertz come up a lot as well. (not really recommended as much as "hey, has anyone tried these?").
If I were you I would try the Inverts because: A) they are new and B) they are from Abec 11 which is pretty much always a winner.
Just please, try not to take the advice of anyone recommending anything softer than about 92a. Or, before you do, look into what some of the better known pool skaters are using (or any decent pool/park skater).
I am about to order some Inverts right after I post up this nonsense.
Bones SPF's - when I was at the Van's Combi Pool in May, many of those top skaters
were on these wheels. Super fast, and they tend to resist flat spotting. Yes, I own
a set as well.
I just wish they would make the mini cubes in this formula!
Just replaced some rat bones with SPF's and park/pool wise, SPF's feel so much nicer. Rat bones are good multi purpose wheels, decent in the park, decent for cruising and such, but not great for either. I would assume no skoolz are similar to rat bones, but i dunno, i've never tried em.

Ditto on the spfs for concrete. Speedlab wheels (blackfartz or Tom Inouye) are also very fast and grippy on concrete. I also like spitfires Darren Navarette in 58mm- they are fast with a wide riding surface.
I have got Powell Bowl Bombers 64mm/PF and Lush Cannonballs 60mm/97a. Both work great in pools and concrete parks.
My 2 cents just to add to the confusion!
SPF RULES!!!! It's fast on smooth concrete. Other brands are slower or less grippy. A 55MM SPF are faster than other 60mm wheels . A 60mm SPF are even faster. You can ride what ever brand of wheels you like. Wheels all cost about the same. Why buy ones that are less efficient.
