Default My latest park and old school builds

I decided to build up a setup for the parks/pools that were a bit more normal size so I ended up with this- Deckcrafters Turkey deck 8 3/8" at the widepoint x 33", Ace 44 trucks and Rock n rons bearings and 60mm 101a duro wheels. This is much smaller than my previous board and it is fast in reaction time. Better learn to get my Northwest vibe on for this one.

Next up was my board to bring back the feeling of 1989. Another deckcrafters. This one is the Woodwind 9 1/4" x 33 " 16" wb, Indy 169's and Rainskates 59mm 95a duro single conicals. Love this board!!!! Buddy at Tailtap.com rode it and he went back to the good old days on this one.

    that woodwind looks nice,
    howz the concave? and kicktail?

being digging my anti-hero 16.5 wb
    stiff wood, solid feel..
love the 16.5 (feels weird to ride 15" again)
my only complaint about my deck is the kicktail feels too steep,
    used to mellow tails..

I am now riding flippies, even though I don't flip. I was using a 10in old skool pool deck, but I got an 8.5in flippy just for messin around, but now I am finding I get better speed and pump with the flippy in the bowls (and kickturns on the walls are easier with the narrower trucks and shorter WB). I think the key when getting a popsicle is to find one that has "pool" designation; I have a Bacon 8.5x15 (norm=14-14.5), I think they push the truck mounts out a bit on these "pool" decks to make them less prone to looping out. I find my "pool-flippy" plenty stable and easy to get back on line, however I still don't like the sub-8in--14WB full on flippies, they do feel sketchy, funny how an inch or so can make such a big difference.

This one has mellow concave so it feels definitely like the old days. Kicktail angle is perfect and it also has dog ear concave on the rear kick which really locks you in. A nice touch by Mr. Chuck Hults.

    define perfect...
seems like many modern pool boards all have steeper kicks..

Remember back in the days when ads would list the angle of the kick?
I wish they would bring that back...

next time I get a deck, I will remember to bring the old deck in and lay the new one on top of it to get an idea the angle of the kick.
(I cant really tell just by standing on top of the deck in the store)

btw, my local shop actually carries some Deckcrafters...

and I read that Chuck Hults designed those Element retro/cruiser decks...
