    Default Hosoi Hammerhead

Hey guys i might get a hammerhead for bowl and pool skateing. I really like the shape of the board and have seen some people rip with it. I probably will get it in red with 169 indys and 65mm noskoolz. Pros and Cons?? any input would be nice

If you are going to use it for regular park skating, it should do fine. A little big for me though. If you are looking at the Hosoi reissue like this one, it should do nicely. The tail is a bit bigger than most pool decks but it has a nice spoon nose concave. They have a 15 7/8" wheelbase so it will be nice and stable in the bowls.

I have some 96a 65mm No Skoolz on my pool board and that thing sticks to the walls like glue. It is a bit heavy for parks, but for pools this thing kicks @ss

I finally took it to the park a couple days ago. It was so sick, i learned how to drop in and I can almost rockin roll on the 4ft mini bowl. I also got better at riding the pools and cant wait for the weekend to go back to the park!!

Firefox - I like when old threads are resurrected, shows some people
are doing their homework! I too am interested in the Hosoi models.

Which Powell re-issues do you ride?

I really dig the Valeley reject and the skull and sword. however as of now Ive not ridden them. my main park/slide setup is a Traffic 33" old school style.

I have a Skull & Sword that I ride. I like it, but as I have discovered
it lacks concave, compared to some of the other wide old school boards.

Let us know how you like your Hosoi 8)

I checked out some chatter on skull and bones and there are some who seriously diss the HH calling it a walmart board ? odd i think. If one is a collector then thats one thing but if you want to ride it who cares if its an "original" Hosoi? I know Pocket pistols makes HH decks and Ive seen a krooked HH as well Are there decks of lesser quality by a certain maker or is it all preference?

I'm still really interested in either a HH or a Powell reissue. I almost got one but right now my number of boards is approaching the level of comical. At least that is how my wife put it so I am holding off for now.

I did find it a little misleading as to who to actually get a hammerhead from (by that I mean the company who makes them). The one I was eyeing was at Socal Skate shop.

Def. put up a solid review when you get it. I would be interested.

There are some collectors that naturally might diss
on re-issues, however for a ordinary older skater like
me it's great! I cannot afford to purchase a $500 original
Caballero from 1982, but I can afford several different re-issues.

I can vouch for the Powells - they are solid and ride/hold up
well. Mine accidentally made its way into the pond at the local
skatepark (I still don't understand why they put it there) and was
at the bottom completely submerged. I pulled it out, and dried it off,
and have skated it many, many times since, no problems.

I have been told by Chris at SoCal skateshop that Christian himself
rides his own 08 model with Indy 149's (he has seen him personally.)
Judging by the way Christian still skates, I would have to imagine that it is not some cheap Wal-Mart board.
