Cool Seattle Skate Mom!
Some parks around Seattle get routinely trashed (liberty park renton for example) -- which should be a good lesson for city planners -- "more eyes on the park" means less vandalism, easier for parents to drive their kids there -- overall a much better vibe.
Here's a great article on one of the cooolest skate moms who's core to the Parents for Skateparks group -- pushing to get new parks located on decent real estate.

Re: Cool Seattle Skate Mom!
thats a great article. its really cool to see the paradigm shift that comes with the 'mainstreaming' of skating.
i went to the seattle skatepark planning meeting last night, and then today met with grindline and the city of duvall about their skatepark. the seattle area skatepark scene is about to get huge and im super stoked about it!!!

Re: Cool Seattle Skate Mom!
that rocks, you're making the meetings. more inner city parks are seriously needed, we're driving all over rural places now, but we're also damn lucky to have the best parks to choose from...
btw that crossroads park in some other thread you posted --- I gotta get out there!

Re: Cool Seattle Skate Mom!
Great PDF that anyone in the planning process of city parks can benefit from. Seattle has a long way to go with only 2 parks in Seattle out of 100 parks in WA state.
"During July and August all the nominated sites are being evaluated for their potential to be included in the draft list for the Citywide Plan. Evaluations should be completed by September 1st and the draft list will be posted on this webpage.

In September 2006, a second round of citywide public meetings will be held to hear comments on the draft list of proposed sites."
