Best pool wheels I've riden
Been skating on a proto set of Rockin'Ron's Black Holes in 60mm (101) for a week now.
Ron said that he spec'd higher tolerances on the core (sez within .0003! hope I have it right, that's three tenths of a thou) and a better, more expensive material too. Yes, that's right, a cored pool wheel. I know there's only a few out there right now. But Ron is on the right track with this.
These are fast. What can I say, really fast and grippy. Enough grip that I am surprised that they are 101 durometer. When these hit the counter check into them, if your serious.

I'm surprised a guy who does bearing work for NASA doesn't realize that the A durometer scale only goes to 100...

Well, there is the real world (where 100A is the limit) and the skateboard marketing world where 101A simply means, "a lot harder than 99a, but if I just say 99.8a, no one will get the idea that they are very hard and so we call it 101a to get the point across." This practice has been going on for so many years that there is no fighting it at this point.
It'd be best to use another scale that is more sensitive - so that there would be like 12 numbers between the difference in a 98 and 100a wheel so people could get an idea of the differences, but hey, it's too late for that now. Skaters are too used to the A scale.

Re: Best pool wheels I've riden
Taken from CD:
I am riding My new 62MM Black Holes. I wanted a wheel as fast/hard as Bones SPF without the slip and alot of grip. I wanted them to be skatepark oriented and I wanted tight control over the roundness and the Core width accuracy so I can produce matching spacers easily. So they have a special plastic core material. Im proud to announce the Black Hole Wheel Series will be available soon. I am SO SO SO Stoked !!
I, sk8junky, Eddie and Chris Olden will be riding them if you want to check them out

another post from CD:
Here ya go...Dont have sticker shock. These wheels are expensive but worth it. I
They will officially retail @ $58.00 a set. That is retail and I will sell them for a little less on my website and have specials and sales. But $58.00 will be the official retail.
......and I had to have thousands made and spend well over 30k to be able to sell them at this price. But they are worth it and will last you for YEARS. The wearability of the wheel formula is fantastic. The wheel is so good in my opinion, I am delaying doing Goverment Conctact work to get the wheels going. Thats how strong I feel about these wheels and their performance.
They will be available in 4 weeks. March 12th or so.

Re: Best pool wheels I've riden
Hmm...How would they be for sliding? He says they would last for years, so maybe they will stand up to the abuse of sliding for a long time? Or maybe they would be retardedly grippy. Either way, I am not dropping that kind of money on park wheels when I could get like 2 sets of Alien Shots (Probably the best wheel for pools on the market).

The best pool wheels: Bull Dog Skates DubCons, 97a. I skate SPF 62mm but the BDS is the best I've ridden. Nice wide conical wheel that has nice momentum.

Before I broke my ankle I was in love with my Rockin Ron's they are incredibly fast wheels but I don't have the balance/control to skate them now I've been very stoked with my IPS Speedlabs now Shitty's wheels rule

I feel it is more of a conversion to an aproximate "A" scale reading. If he had quoted numbers in the "D" scale or "B" scale, then there would be no frame of reference. Yes, there is no accurate "A" reading above 97 or so, but if it did actually go that high, then the wheels would be around 101a (as an example). In general you know they are very hard, and by using "A" numbers you have a frame of reference.
oops, I saw this has already been talked. SLim did the correct job.
My comments represent a selfishly one sided 1970's skateboarder mindset, and do not reflect the current fashion-skate-lifestyle industry's views.

I agree, Rainskates are amazing wheels. I ride the yellow jackets, SOOO fast and still have grip (and you can still go with the harder duros as well)

My current favorite are the Rainskates Killer Bees. I like them because they work well on all the different surfaces of my usual skate spots.
