Upsetter... do you happen to know what board that is man. I know there's like a day-light and night-time version of the graphic.. but I can't remember whose board it is..
Jay Adams doesn't owe anyone anything. He doesn't owe you holiness, purity, or to be anybody's poster child Big Brother mentor for The Right Way To Live. That's up to you.
You're a slag for knocking him man. It's easy to point out someone's flaws you don't ever have to face isn't it? To kick at them when they're behind bars no less. Coward.
"Jay does drugs, Jay's in prison, Jay's such a total and complete fuk up.." Your whining, mewling disappointment in one of the icons of skateboarding is duly noted.
HEY! Way to knock your bro's in skateboarding. You don't put his shoes on and you don't live in his head. Until you do, stop judging and find the Perfect Hero in yourself .
Your skate heros are human beings. Stop expecting them to be god's all-wise angels.

Back in the mid 70s, when SkateBoarder ran an article on how to do f/s and b/s airs, JT was the guy they had write it. He was one of the big air kings at the time, as well as the first to do b/s ollies (possibly even before Gelfand was doing them f/s)...

heheh thanks for the correction MSK... the point remains the same though. I just googled "jay adams" real fast so that I could get a few shots of him grabbing stink bug to prove my point.

The only reason I brought up the whole Jay "stink bug" thing was to show that the aesthetics that people bitch about now adays (stinkbug, tuck knee, blah blah blah) had no relevance to the "Masters" of the sport. I wasn't trying to put Jay down for grabbing airs stinkbug (because hell, I grab stinkbug heheh)... I was trying to justify teaching people to air stinkbug... because I figure if Jay can do it, I can do it. Maybe I didn't make that clear enough... and the "King of all Kooks" thing was complete sarcasm...

Right on man!! Pictures? Tutorial maybe?? I've really only tried them a few times..
Well, if you wanna get real high and stylish in your airs you need to learn how to fs ollie. When you know that, all you have to do is to grab the board at the apex of the ollie...
I can FS Air but theres no way in hell I could FS ollie in the deepend of a bowl. I suggest that you learn to "early" grab like in the video. As you get better and start clearing the coping, start waiting later before grabbing. You eventually want to be able to wait long enough for your front truck to bounce off the coping before snatching the board up in your hand. Once you can get close to doing this, add a quick "pump" just as you grab and trust me you'll get plenty high enough. Hence the late grab.
I personally think the new street style ollies in pools/bowls look like sh*t, it doesn't matter who it is, they just look totally devoid of style. To me, frontside airs or any kind of air shouldn't be ollied into (unless it's a gelfand type ollie) since the gnarliest part of a frontside air is holding on to it with your bare f***in' hand while looking like your cheating death and the laws of physics. That's just me though. And about the whole tucked knee vs. stink bug debate, both styles look just as rad to me.

Now whether it's early grab or not, stinkbug or tuck knee is up to the skater. Afterall, it comes down to how it feels when you do it, not how the next dude judges it.
