Default Wheels for concrete bowl riding

I'm sure this may be addressed elsewhere somewhere, but I'd appreciate any feedback:

I'm riding an old school 10 by 34 inch board, have Tracker trucks on half inch risers, and am really trying to get the right wheels dialed in.

I've been riding 58 Bones SPFs, but they're a little too small and slidey for me. I'm looking for something a bit bigger, with better grip but not too comprimised in the speed area.

...not trying to be the fastest guy in the bowl, just smooth, confident and stable.

Mahalo for your comments!

I was going to say Rainskates as well. I've been riding the Killer Bees for awhile and love them. I get the grip I like on the concrete at the park and they ride real well. Very nice.

I have a 10" - 30" Caballero with tracker six tracks, you might try
some of the hard (but wide) Tunnel Rocks 95A. Hard and fast
but nice and old-school wide!

The G-Bones are sweet too, but feel softer than the Tunnels.

i agree. big wide wheels for those just wanting to cruise around fast and carve, especially if you're riding a pig /old school style board or any wider longer board that can accomodate the width. very stable and they carry momentum through the bowl. if you're not trying tricks you don't need light skinny wheels. my vote: bds dubcons 95a.

Blue (95A) Tunnel Rocks & Rockn Ron's Stage I Rockets = Smooth and fast. I was out at the park and there were 5 15 year old kids that tried my board and they were fighting over who got to ride it next. 2 of them were going to get some for their boards. I'll NEVER go back to skinny wheels!

sounds good, what size wheels are your Tunnel Rocks? What size board do you ride?

They only come in 63mm and with Indy's, I find 1/2" hard riser to work perfectly as long as your bushings aren't too soft. I ride Bones Hards and have not had any wheelbite issues. I would go with the Blue (95A). I have them on a 9"x32" blank board. The only thing you need to watch out for on them is that they are side set. I originally had Indy 169's on my board because I had center set wheels, but to make the Tunnel Rocks fit my board, I had to get a pair of 139's (8"). However, the ride is so sweet for skating transition that it was worth it to me. Here's a link to where I got them from:

Tunnel Skateboards Tunnel Rocks Wheels Blue 63mm 95a

I have a set of the Red (90A) Tunnel Rocks wheels on a reissue Mike McGill (10"x30") and it is super smooth, but a bit slower than I like, but then I bought it to carve and flow mellow around the park when I am in the mood. I run 169's (9") on the McGill. So I guess the formula for getting the Tunnel Rocks to fit your board is to take your board width, subtract 1" from it and use trucks that are whatever length that number ends up being.
If you have any more questions or if that doesn't make sense, PM me anytime.

Later,

CC

The Tunnel blues and reds are slow wheels for the park, but if that's your thing.

However for a good wheel, either Powell SPF or Shitbirds which are copies of old Bullets.

If your pushing a longer board, then you going to need harder wheels to maintain the speed.

Food for thought.

I suppose that depends on what you want to do in the park. I am sure, for example, Rainskate Stingers in 100a are faster than Tunnel Rocks in 95a, but I am not a speed freak in the park. However, if PoolPirate is looking to rip and go big, I take your point.
