I am new to the board but some of you might remember me from CASL days.
It very strange I have come full circle in my skateboarding days I am NOOB again it feels great!!.. I have not skated any cement parks or transition in 15 years since they tore down Tiajuna skate park. I have only used my board to go to 7-11 and back.
I was skating at the new Carlsbad skatepark in a little combi bowl. Just 4 miles west of the original Carlsbad skatepark were I learned how to skate bowls from a very nice pro named Kim Cespedes in 1976 when I was 15 years old. It such a trip I was so stoked that day back in 1976 when I was able to get a full bowl carve. I feel that way right now today.
But now I have nothing to prove any more just to have the pure fun of carving the bowls at Carlsbad. The only thing frustrating is I know what I use to be able to do and can do the lines in my head but my body will not follow. But who cares this time it for me at 46 years young.
Welcome back man, I too skated back in 1976, just a
few thousand miles east! Any way the parks are way better
now and the stoke is still there. You are a lucky dog to
be in northern San Diego, many great parks to choose from.
I was just out there a few weeks ago. You might want to
hook up with Scott from Muir skates on the UCSD campus.
The dude loves to skate and hits the parks often!
Hot Wheels thanks for the welcome back. SDSU is a great place to skate great down hill
parking lots and Curbs for slapies. I have always like the east coast skaters one of my favorites to hang with at NSA amateur final contests was Brian Mank. He is just awesome all around skater.
I remember Kim Cespedes from my Skateboarder Magazines, thats cool.
If you have not got some already, it would do you good to
get some good pads, I like the 187's. It may not look so cool
but one fall and you will be sold. If I can be of any assistance
just let me know.
You have a GREAT skate shop in Encinitas, McGills! James the
manager there will hook you up, and Mike McGill himself (also
Tony Hawk) comes in there ocassionally.
